ViVOtech has introduced an EMV-compatible version of its popular
“ViVOpay 4000” contactless reader. The new “ViVOpay 4500” is designed
for the European, Middle Eastern, Asian, Canadian, and Latin American
markets. The new reader features ARM processor-based hardware with large
application memory to support multiple branded EMV and magnetic stripe
contactless applications in addition to retailer loyalty, prepaid and
NFC mobile phone payment programs. The device can be mounted on

20% of Consumers to Purchase GP Gift Cards

One in five consumers plans to purchase general purpose gift cards this holiday season. The poll was commissioned by the Network Branded Prepaid Card Association, a non-profit, inter-industry trade association created last year to advance the success of network branded prepaid cards. The NBPCA says 63% of consumers prefer a gift card they can use anywhere. This is driving rapid growth in the branded gift card market with $5 billion worth of network branded gift cards purchased in 2004, expected to rise to $26 billion in 2007.

Gemalto Launches a Online Card Personalizer

Gemalto has launched an end-to-end solution for secure Internet design of personalized EMV payment cards. The new “CardLikeMe” system enables users to upload a picture of their choice on a bank Web site and transfer it to a card. Once the picture is loaded on the bank Web site, users can visualize the card appearance in real time and adjust the photograph as they wish. The image is approved by the bank before the order is placed. Users may also choose a picture from a wide range of attractive background visuals offered on the bank’s online gallery. “CardLikeMe” has already gone live with several European financial institutions.

Expedia to Power Citi’s ThankYou Network

Expedia.com and Citigroup have inked a deal to expand the “ThankYou Network”. Ingenico selects PicoRead from INSIDE Contactless

INSIDE Contactless has selected the “PicoRead” reader chip for integration into its “i3070” contactless PIN Pad. “PicoRead” is a 13.56Mhz RF interface which supports all major protocols within the industry – “ISO 14443 A/B,” “FeliCa” and “ISO 15693” protocols.
With support for contactless interaction up to 10cm, “PicoRead” has
outstanding performance characteristics and is also a low-power device,
well suited for use in low-power or battery powered devices. “PicoRead” was specifically designed to address the needs of OEMs in consumer electronics and devices requiring small footprint at low-cost, without compromising on performance.

ANZ Offers Personally Customized VISA Cards

ANZ has partnered with Serverside to create online customized VISA
cards. Since October 9th, new and existing holders of “ANZ First VISA”
or “ANZ Access” cards have been able to customize their card plastic
with a photo of their own, or an image chosen from a creative
collection of online gallery images. Gallery categories include pictures
of animals, sports, Australian heritage, cartoon characters and action
superheroes. For cardholders, the design process is straightforward. No
software downloads are needed and the entire process can be completed in
seconds. Customers simply design their own cards online using intuitive
editing tools within a branded section of ANZ’s Web site. Serverside

Cash Systems Signs Two cashclub Deployments

Las Vegas-based Cash Systems announced the Agua Caliente Casino and The Spa Resort Casino will be the first casino properties in Southern California to install Cash Systems’ “cashclub” product. The cashclub installation is part of an enhanced contract renewal with the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians of Southern California. Cash Systems previously provided Agua Caliente Casino, Rancho Mirage and Spa Resort Casino, Palm Springs with credit and debit card cash advance services and will now provide a complete line of cash access services including all-in-1 and check cashing. Hypercom Intros First Universal Contactless PIN Pad

Hypercom has introduced the first PIN entry device that includes a choice of contactless, EMV smart card or magnetic stripe payments, a touchscreen display, and a vendor-agnostic architecture enabling integration with Hypercom, VeriFone or Ingenico card payment terminals as well as leading electronic cash register systems. The new “P4100 PIN Pad” also offers a WiFi option. Other features include a contactless ISO 14443-compliant RF reader that supports “ExpressPay” from American Express, MasterCard “PayPass” and “VISA Contactless” payment programs. Plus, multi-application support for multiple smart card-enabled payment and value-added applications and high security designed to meet PCI PED standards for secure PIN entry.
