This reseller agreement will enhance POS Superstore’s offering to small and medium sized shoe and clothing retailers with a seamless integrated solution for managing retail operations, staffing, inventory, and payment processing.
San Francisco-based NerdWallet is hitting the big time with $64 million in Series A funding round led by Institutional Venture Partners (IVP) with participation from RRE Ventures, iGlobe Partners and additional angel investors.
Prosper peer-to-peer lending raised $70 million in additional funding to fuel the company’s growth and expansion. David Golob from Francisco Partners will join the Prosper Marketplace Board of Directors. The funding round also includes investments from Institutional Venture Partners (IVP), one of the premier later-stage venture capital and growth equity firms, as well as Phenomen Ventures.Over the past 15 months, Prosper has focused on improving its efficiencies and products through the use of cutting-edge technologies. This has helped to attract new borrowers and lenders at a rapid pace, with loan originations growing over 400% since last year and up 30% from last month. At the end of April, Prosper had 35% share of the online consumer peer-to-peer lending market place.
Parking BOXX announced today their partnership with CreditCall. Parking BOXX will use CreditCall’s EMV-ready payment gateway in the Parking BOXX gated, multi-space, pay-by-phone, cashier and citation parking systems. The systems will be installed across North America with sites already live. CreditCall’s industry-leading card payment solutions are available across multiple channels, including-Multi-Space, Pay-on-Foot, Smartphone and web-based parking in the UK, USA and Canada. The company processes credit and debit card payments securely from unattended parking machines, as well as from phone-based and online parking reservation systems.

Agilysys announced major enhancements to its NextVision mobile applications suite to NextGateway, NextManager and NextPosition, which were designed to provide store associates mobile access to real-time store and enterprise information. NextGateway is the newest addition to the NextVision software suite that affords Agilysys the opportunity to provide retailers a wide array of value-add systems functionality based on their existing software investments. It runs as a Java virtual machine within the existing store server infrastructure and is a light-weight framework installable on many POS platforms, including Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions (TGCS) 4690, Windows and Linux. NextManager product was enhanced to use the Company’s new gateway framework to implement store reporting, terminal monitoring and manager alerts. NextPosition Version 3T will enable full mobile POS functionality for Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions (TGCS) 4690-based Supermarket Application and ACE applications and will be available in April 2013.
Agilysys innovative retail information technology and hospitality software solutions partnered Motion Computing rugged tablet PCs and mobility solutions to deliver comprehensive mobility solutions to retailers utilizing Windows POS systems. For this partnership, Agilysys will be responsible for developing the tablet’s software, integrating with legacy Windows applications, mobile infrastructure, staging, deployment and ongoing management, support and service.
Agilysys marketer of proprietary enterprise software, services and solutions made available its “NextPosition 3S” next-generation mobile POS software system. Designed to work with the SAP POS application 2.3, the software extends and expands the Agilysys NextPosition MPOS functionality through integration with SAP POS via a modern, mobile user interface for the store associates. Agilysys worked closely with SAP to develop a feature-rich solution that integrates with the SAP POS and related applications for retail stores and enterprise systems without requiring additional middleware. The integration with SAP POS, leveraging the SAP Afaria® mobile device and application management solution, allows Agilysys to deliver the full functionality of a retailer’s POS system to a mobile device.
IDC Financial Insights announced the results of the eighth annual Consumer Payments Survey, focused on the usage of emerging payment technologies. The new report, Business Strategy: Results from the 2012 Consumer Payments Survey (Document #FIN235594) found that mobile payments have more than doubled in popularity, reaching over 33% of survey respondents. Of those that had made a mobile payment, more than half used PayPal Mobile (56%), with Amazon Payments and Apple’s iTunes service statistically tied at about 40%. In addition, prepaid cards showed strong growth, particularly in the network branded and benefit submarkets. Network-branded (open loop) prepaid cards have drawn neck and neck with closed loop cards in consumer penetration. Overall, 73.5% of U.S. consumers now use online bill payment. This confirms that online bill payment is now the dominant way we pay bills in the U.S. IDC Financial Insights emphasizes the strong results in prepaid cards and mobile payments should lend urgency to financial institutions’ efforts to develop products in these areas.
QThru launched a new mobile platform, allowing shoppers to scan items with a smartphone as they shop, facilitating an incredibly efficient checkout from their phone. The QThru system has had a successful test market deployment in the Seattle area. Aretailer’s products and pricing are seamlessly synchronized with the QThru cloud. Customers can then download the QThru smartphone app and start shopping. To complete the checkout process shoppers simply enter a previously stored passcode and scan a QR code at a checkout kiosk which completes the transaction from their phone. QThru uses a cloud-based, fully PCI-compliant, secure storage facility to protect payment and personal information. A receipt is generated from the kiosk, which is highlighted in a different color and is reviewed by a store employee at the door.
American Express has launched its “PAYVE” digital payment service, allowing large and mid-size companies to centralize the processing of multiple payment methods through a single, easy-to-use electronic platform. Payment methods include check, ACH, international wire and American Express’s web-based payment solution, Buyer Initiated Payments (BIP) allowing companies to improve working capital and cash flow management while streamlining accounts payable (AP) processes. The “PAYVE” solution allows companies to consolidate payments through a single platform to increase control, efficiency and transparency of their payables and accelerate their migration from paper check to electronic payments to reduce costs and make their accounts payable process more efficient. Clients simply send a file to American Express that can include instructions for multiple vendors and various payment methods. American Express will then direct payments to each supplier using the designated method – check, ACH, international wire or BIP.
Amazon launched in-app purchasing in its app store while the Kindle Fire is scheduled for a UK launch at the end of April.
