American Express this morning announced it will add free personal financial management tools to American Express Serve1 and Bluebird starting this summer. These tools help customers monitor their spending by automatically sorting transactions into categories such as bills, food, fun, shopping and transportation so they can easily track where their money is going. When customers log in to their Serve and Bluebird accounts, they will also be able to create budgets, set spending limits and alerts, as well as set and track financial goals.

cards. The new “Ink” and “Ink Capital” offer additional purchase rewards
or an interest-payment refund to customers with Chase business checking
accounts. “Ink” with “Exclusive Benefits” is a no-fee business card for
customers who want to maximize their rewards. Chase business checking
customers earn a 20% bonus â or 1.2 points for every dollar they spend
on the card â with no limits on the points they can earn, and the points
never expire. The rewards points can be redeemed for millions of rewards
options through “Ultimate Rewards,” including cash back, gift cards,
unrestricted travel, and brand-name merchandise.

The Visa Worldwide “Visa e-Commerce Consumer Monitor” survey of online
shoppers in Asia Pacific indicates more online shopping in Japan.
Demonstrating Japanese consumers are more price conscious when it comes
to shopping online, compared with consumers in countries and territories
in Asia Pacific, “Visa e-Commerce Consumer Monitor” showed the the
ability to compare prices/save money (18 percent) and to find/compare
products easily (14 percent) are the two top reasons answered by
Japanese respondents, compared to 10% and 7%, respectively, across Asia
Pacific. However, 84% responded the most fundamental reason for shopping
online is it’s possible anytime. The survey also indicated 49 to 57% of
respondents across Asia Pacific were most concerned with ‘misuse of card
details by resellers’ and ‘unauthorized access’ when conducting online
payment. In Japan, 54 to 61% were concerned with this.
Small business owners still have the economic blues but there are signs that many are gearing up to invest in areas such as advertising and capital expenditures. About 44% of small business owners think the economy is getting worse, down from 46% in September. The Discover “Small Business Watch” index rose from 87.7 in September to 88.5 in October. The number of those who said they plan to decrease spending dropped from 50% in September to 44% in October. However, the number of those planning no changes jumped from 22% to 32%. Those who are planning to increase spending dropped from 25% to 23%. Discover found 44% of owners say they have experienced cash flow issues in the past 90 days, down from 46% in September. About 29% of small business owners see economic conditions for their businesses improving, unchanged from September, while 43% see their own conditions getting worse, down two percentage points over last month.
Chase officially unveiled a new business card portfolio that includes
four distinct cards and marks the issuer’s first introduction of a
pay-in-full charge card. The new cards include: “Ink Bold,” “Ink,” “Ink
Plus” and “Ink Cash.” “Ink Bold” is a pay-in-full charge card with a $95
annual fee offering premium rewards from business purchases with no
limit on how many points may be earned and the points do not expire.
“Ink” is a business credit card with no annual fee and a rewards
program. “Ink Plus” with a $60 annual fee is a business credit card with
a rewards program. “Ink Cash” is a no annual fee credit card that offers
unlimited cash back and accelerated earnings on everyday business
purchases. All the new cards offer online expense management tools,
complete with online reporting capabilities as well as customized
reports on spending that can be categorized, sorted and downloaded to
accounting software for easy tracking and tax purposes. Also, additional
cards are available for employees with individual spending limits and
custom alerts delivered via email or text to track employee spending â
all while earning rewards from employeesâ purchases.
