UnionPay has launched QuickPass in Beijing with more than 20 commercial banks. Consumers can pay not only with UnionPay cards but also via its mobile solution QuickPass.
The number of Chinese consumers shopping U.S. brands online over the holiday season has increased 7 times over last year. Total sales from China-based consumers purchasing U.S. products through Alipay ePass increased 15 times versus last year.
China’s UnionPay has become the only international bankcard association offering Chinese Visa application VIP express service. UnionPay cardholders can apply at the Chinese Visa Application Service Centers in five cities in Australia, namely Sidney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane and Perth. This service will substantially shorten the processing time, and will soon be rolled out in some of the other countries where UnionPay cards have been issued.
Chinese tourists are flocking to the Czech Republic and the transaction volume of UnionPay cards in the Czech Republic has achieved a year-on-year growth of over 100% in the first three quarters of this year. Scandinavian Airlines will formally accept online ticket purchase of UnionPay cards before the end of the summer. It will join hands with many European airlines like Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Deutsche Lufthansa, Finnair, LOT Polish Airlines, and Ukraine International Airlines to accept UnionPay.
Based on the data issued by the China National Tourism Administration, the purchase of outbound tourism in 2014 reached 115 billion USD (about 724.5 billion RMB), with year-on-year growth of more than 20%. At present, UnionPay cards have become the preferred payment brand of outbound Chinese tourists.
Russia’s Rosselkhozbank has inked a deal with UnionPay International to enable acceptance by all its 3,300 ATMs and 4,000 POS terminals within the year and start mass issuance of UnionPay cards since 2016.
