Wells Fargo & Company and American Express today launched the new Propel 365 and Propel World credit cards, which will be available for Wells Fargo customers and accepted on the American Express network. The new cards, issued by Wells Fargo, offer customers the ability to maximize everyday spending to earn rewards faster, enjoy rich and competitive offers, benefit from enhanced protections while shopping and traveling, and receive advance access to entertainment, merchant discounts and a dedicated concierge service.
Western Union and SunTrust Bank launched Western Union global money transfer and bill payment services at more than 1,500 bank Agent locations in the southeastern U.S. SunTrust clients and the general public can now pay bills or load prepaid cards via Western Union services, or send money to more than 495,000 Western Union Agent locations in 200 countries and territories from all SunTrust bank locations. Western Union services are offered in the U.S. through a strategically combined Agent network of nearly 46,000 banks, national retail and grocery chains, and independent locations. The company also offers its customers online and mobile phone access points in certain countries for money transfer services.

The seminars and online webinars are free of charge to Ink from Chase cardmembers and will feature expert advice from a Google product specialist, including, online marketing tips and best practices that small business owners can use immediately to make a big impact on their businesses. The “Grow Your Business Online” fall seminar and networking series kicks off in Chicago on September 19 and will include cities such as Houston, New York City and Miami. Each seminar will feature expert advice from Frederick Vallaeys, an AdWords evangelist at Google, and a local small business owner as well as time to network with other small business owners. Tom Quinn has been appointed to the Credit.com consumer education expert team, bringing with him more than 20 years’ experience with the likes of FICO, Experian and Citibank. He spent the last 15 years at FICO creating and delivering scoring educational initiatives and was later appointed to develop, launch and grow myFICO.com to give consumers direct access to their FICO scores. He was subsequently appointed VP of the division. For what is now FICO, he acted as Product Manager of the MDS Bankruptcy Scores and spent several years in Citibank’s Credit Card division.
Gemalto’s US-based advanced manufacturing and service center has received the security assurance certification from the North American Security Products Organization (NASPO). The audit renewed the certification of Gemaltoâs security practices and procedures against the ANSI/NASPO Class II âAssurance Standards for the Document and Product Security Industries.â With this accredidation, Gemalto passed NASPO evaluation of its manufacturing and services processes, security controls for the supply chain and critical component suppliers, as well as policies and procedures to ensure only authorized customers have access to finished products. The facility produces, personalizes and delivers a broad range of secure products, including credit and debit cards, contactless payment cards, subscriber identification modules (SIMs) and universal identification cryptographic cards (UICCs) for mobile telecom.
More than 11 million people became victims of identity theft in 2009, of which, those aged 18-24 took the longest to detect identity theft. Taking an average of 132 days to detect their identity was at stake, those in this demographic lost an average of $1,156 to recover from the incident, roughly five times that lost by other age groups. This, according to the “2010 Identity Fraud Survey Report” released by Javelin Strategy and Research, is prompting the BBB to recommend students ensure their computer has up-to-date antivirus and spyware software; check your credit or debit card statements closely for any suspicious activity; check their credit report at least once a year with all three reporting bureaus to spot suspicious activity or inaccuracies; send sensitive mail to a permanent address; and to store important documents in a filing cabinet or other secure location.
