NCR Corporation is set to install its “BLOCKBUSTER Express” -branded DVD-rental kiosks in 35 locations of Gristedes NY-based small supermarkets. Slated for completion by the end of January, deployment of the NCR “BLOCKBUSTER Express”-branded kiosk offers consumers DVD rentals for $1 per night through conveniently located kiosks. Renters can then return the DVD to any convenient “BLOCKBUSTER Express” kiosk, which hold more than 900 DVDs for the widest selection of new release and classic DVDs available. FL-based Global Axcess reported that third quarter revenues increased by 24% and 3/04 operating income rose 43%. The firm has more than 3,500 ATMs nationwide. IL-based Perfect Plastic Printing has increased its production capacity by 35%, and has expanded its workforce by 20% to meet the current and projected needs of the credit card industry. Among the enhancements PPP has made to its manufacturing capabilities is the introduction of computer-to-plate technology to speed the front end of the production process. It has also installed a new Heidelberg six-color press that increases capacity by more than a third. FL-based Global Axcess has launched “Branded Vault Cash”, and has signed Richmond, VA-based Conosolidated Bank & Trust as its first customer. Under this Agreement, NMS will manage up to $2,000,000 of Consolidated Bank & Trust vault cash in NMS- managed ATMs. Additionally, Consolidated Bank & Trust will receive branding rights and surcharge free transactions for its cardholders on a selected number of NMS-managed ATMs in Food Lion grocery stores.
FL-based ATM management specialist Global Axcess reported 2Q/03 revenues of $2.6 million compared to $3.0 million one-year ago, due primarily to the reduction of unprofitable ATM sites, however second quarter net income rose 311% to $197,350. Omaha-based Amerenhance unveiled a new online customer loyalty system for the card and banking industry this week. The new system, called ‘OCLS’ provides complete Internet access for managing and redeeming award currency in a mileage or point accumulation loyalty program database. Unlike proprietary loyalty programs such as ‘MyPoints’ and ‘WebMiles’, the Amerenhance system can be branded by each issuer to facilitate any mileage or point-based loyalty program. OCLS is also designed to be 100% compatible with any processor’s interface including FDR, TSYS, even an in-house platform. Currently in beta at First USA Bank on the highly successful ‘Value Miles’ cobrand look-alike loyalty program, OCLS will be available to the card industry this fall.
