Diebold and Suncoast Credit Union, supported by FIS, will enable full cash recycling at the ATM with Diebold’s Opteva® Flex Performance Series ATMs. This will allow the ATMs to reuse consumer-deposited cash for future withdrawals, enhancing ATM availability and reducing the frequency and cost of cash replenishment visits. FIS, the world’s largest banking and payments technology provider, is designing and implementing the back-end processing required to facilitate full cash recycling. Diebold’s Opteva Flex Performance Series ATMs have a recycling capacity of up to 10,800 notes and accept deposits of up to 13,100 notes in a five-cassette configuration.

Reinforcing its position as a world leader in payments switching, FIS, the world’s largest provider of banking and payments technology, announced that it has been selected by eftpos to build its new Australian payments hub. The most commonly used debit card system in Australia is eftpos and it accounts for roughly 70% of the country’s debit card transactions. FIS’ global EFT switching platform will be at the heart of the new hub infrastructure, replacing Australia’s current bilateral networks and processing millions of eftpos transactions each day across the country. The eftpos payments hub will be operational in 2014. The payments hub aims to cut costs, reduce complexity and improve efficiency.
Fiserv launched its “Mobiliti: Tablet,” a turnkey ASP solution tailored for tablet users. With more than 100 banks and credit unions already committed to deploy the solution, “Mobiliti: Tablet” provides a functional, quick to market tablet banking capability. The downloadable application for iPad(R) and iPad mini provides users with access to their accounts in an interactive, touch-enabled format. Capabilities include bill payments, person-to-person payments, mobile deposit, an ATM and branch locator and built-in calendar and calculator functions. It also integrates with online banking solutions from Fiserv and the Popmoney(R) person-to-person payments solution, providing users with full access to digital banking functionality and social payment transactions. A downloadable application for Android(TM) tablets will be available in 2014.
First Data Corporation introduced the next phase of “Pogo>,” a mobile payment solution for the small business and emerging merchant community in the U.S. The “Pogo>” solution is a business-grade solution that enables credit, signature debit and cash acceptance anywhere in the U.S. the merchant has wireless coverage. It allows a merchant to combine a web-enabled smartphone or tablet with a mobile application and secure mobile card reader to create a POS device that leverages First Data’s proven technology, infrastructure and broad distribution channel including relationships with financial institutions and others. According to the Aite Group, 50 percent of merchants claim they would not shift to a non-bank service provider1, suggesting many merchants prefer working with a trusted bank partner for their end-to-end financial needs.
eftpos would begin mobile payments trials with selected Australian retailers in the next few months as eftpos had signed a five-year agreement with C-SAM to provide an eftpos mobile wallet and NFC widget, to meet the needs of eftpos in the Australian market. The C-SAM platform will enable eftpos to offer smartphone users a comprehensive mobile wallet for conducting secure near-field-communication (NFC) transactions related to payments and other value-added services.
