For the first time in Latin America, MasterCard rolled out in Chile a digital payment and shopping technology present in world-class stadiums. Called Qkr!, the app is available for Android and iOS devices and was developed by the company internationally under the “quicker” concept to make online shopping faster. This technology provides customers with faster, more convenient and secure transactions at places such as sports stadiums so customers can skip lines altogether.

ICICI Bank launched its combo prepaid card in association with the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC). The card was launched and co-branded by UPSRTC, offering dual benefits of a travel card as well as a shopping card on a single card. This first-of-its-kind pre-paid card offers users the convenience of not having to pay cash for buying tickets for every trip undertaken on a UPSRTC bus or buying paper passes for monthly or quarterly season tickets. In addition to this, customers can use this same card to shop online as well as at stores. This features Ease of travel on UPSRTC buses, wider acceptability at all VISA POS retail shops, malls and websites for cash-less shopping, no requirement of minimum balance on the shopping card, no need to open a bank account to avail shopping card benefits and secured use.

For the month of March 2011 USA Technologies processed 7.5 million small-ticket transactions worth $12.2 million for a 17% increase over February 2011 and a 93% increase over the year ago figure. The current processing volume rate is now approaching $150 million in annualized volume, a significant increase from the $100 million annualized run rate announced in September 2010, since which time processing volume has exploded to account for nearly half the processing volume of that entire quarter. The 3Q/10 processing volume itself was up by 89% to $24.5 million. This is thanks in large part to USA Technologies’ “JumpStart” program, allowing customers to implement the ePort cashless solution with no upfront investment. Slated to continue into the 2011 calendar year, “JumpStart” offers customers the “ePort G8” for contactless payments or “ePort EDGE” one-piece cashless reader and controller combo designed for quick installation.
USA Technologies wireless, non-cash transactions has signed a securities purchase agreement with institutional investors to purchase $10.7 million of common stock in a private placement, for which it will sell an aggregate of 5,200,000 shares of its common stock at $2.064 per share and warrants to purchase up to 3,900,000 additional shares in the aggregate of its common stock. The proceeds of the offering would be used primarily to support the expansion of the Company’s JumpStart program under which USA Technologies generated over 32,000 new connections in calendar year 2010, allowing customers to implement the ePort cashless solution with no upfront investment. They can go with “ePort G8” to accept contactless payments or the “ePort EDGE” one-piece cashless reader and controller combo designed for quick installation.
