Santander credit/debit cards will migrate to MULTOS chip card technology for their card products. MULTOS is a smart card operating system based on an open standard governed by the MULTOS Consortium, an open industry forum comprised of more than 20 leaders of the smart card ecosystem. MULTOS is an open, high security, multi-application platform, defining a complete issuing environment. The technology brings operational benefits to card issuers and bureaus, such as more efficient personalization and reduced scripting and key management, compared to competing technologies.
Multos International announces that Total System Services de México (TSYS), one of the largest financial services provider for credit/debit card issuers, will use its MULTOS chip card technology solutions in their latest EMV services offering to support banks and financial institutions. The new product launch includes support for a full range of technology options from SDA to DDA/CDA and dual interface, utilising MULTOS technology with payment applications from Multos International, approved by the major payment brands. TSYS solutions simplify the entire process for their issuer customers providing them guidance along the full cycle from product planning to final production.
ALELO has issued the latest EMV™ technology to support meal voucher programs in Brazil. The advanced ALELO card program utilises an EMV approved application implemented on MULTOS technology from Multos International. Multos International is working with the local Brazil card manufacturers to provide the products and support for personalization and issuance. ALELO has already begun card issuance, enabling payment services and meal benefits to their program customers.
Multos International announces the launch of the new Discover D-PAS Dual-Interface application available for EMV migration on Discover, PULSE and Diners Club International networks. This latest application by Multos International complies with the new D-PAS contactless specification from Discover, and is certified across the latest range of MULTOS “step/one” and MULTOS product families for SDA, DDA and Dual-Interface (SC4, MC4 and ML4 platforms) applications. This opens up a new world of payment options for Discover cardholders, especially for use cases where speed of transaction is important such as transport.
Using Keycorp’s MULTOS smartcard technology, Banamex will be
implementing Visa and Mastercard EMV chip cards. MULTOS
will allow the bank to issue VISA and MasterCard using the same
operating platform, flexibility and choice. As a founding member of
MULTOS, Keycorp develops and distributes smartcard operating
systems and smartcard applications. Banamex has a distribution
network of more than 1,400 branches and 5,800 ATMs throughout
Sydney-based Keycorp has renewed its global alliance with
MasterCard into 2009 to guarantee competitive module and card prices to
all MasterCard customers. The electronic transactions specialist also reported its has delivered more than 35 million EMV smartcard chips to-date. The Company says it expects sales of its EMV chips to pass the 50 million mark this year. Keycorp solutions range from smartcards and POS transaction systems to managed services. Issuers of VISA and MasterCard now have the choice of a using a single
platform to simplify card issuance and management processes following
VISA’s certification of “MULTOS” for its chip applications.
Slovenia’s Banka Koper has become the first VISA issuer to deploy “VISA
Smart Credit and Debit” on a “MULTOS” multi-application platform.
“MULTOS” consortium members including Keycorp, Thales eSecurity and
StepNexus, assisted the bank with the deployment. Banka Koper is now
rolling out its VISA chip card program, deploying multi-application
“MULTOS” cards which support both “VSDC” and the “VISA Dynamic Passcode
Authentication” application to support remote cardholder authentication.
Banka Koper’s “VISA Electron Prepaid” card now also contains the Bank’s
own PKI application. Banka Koper has been operating for 50 years and is
the owner of the country’s first and biggest domestic payment card
system, known as Activa, for which seven other Slovenian banks now hold
sub-licenses. It is also the holder of a full license for card-related
products within the MasterCard and VISA systems.
Inteligensa has launched Keycorp’s “MULTOS” product range to its Latin
American customers. Keycorp’s range includes products from the “SDA
MULTOS” step/one to high end 64K DDA “MULTOS” and a range of
contact/contactless new products to address emerging markets such as
“MasterCard Paypass” and e-passports. Inteligensa works on the development and implementation of systems and secure networks for payments and identification. “MULTOS” provides a smartcard platform used by nearly one hundred financial institutions worldwide.
