NCR has completed the market building phase of the the 2ST thermal print
technology IP licensing program.
Companies that enter into a 2ST printer IP
license by December 1, 2009 will receive more favorable terms. After
2ST printer IP licenses will be offered on significantly higher terms,
if they are offered at all. New 2009 2ST printer installations
are on track to more than double the current installed base. In
addition, new products and applications are being developed for
two-sided thermal printing including 2ST label printers, which allow
businesses to maximize the real estate on their shipping labels and
reduce the number of shipping documents that need to be printed.
One of New Zealand’s largest financial
institutions, BNZ will deploy NCR
SelfServ ATMs equipped with combined dual-roll two-sided thermal
printing technology. 2ST is patented NCR technology that enables
businesses to print on both
sides of a thermal paper receipt, reducing paper consumption by as much
as 45 percent. With the increased printing space available on 2ST
receipts, BNZ will be
able to improve its one-to-one customer marketing, communicating with
existing and prospective customers with additional offerings from the
bank. The NCR SelfServ family offers
bill payments and no-envelope intelligent cash and check deposits,
PCI-compliant encrypting PIN pads and unique malware
protection from Solidcore for APTRAâ¢. NCR SelfServ also is the only ATM
family to feature protected USB technology, which allows financial
institutions to add new features to the ATMs quickly without
compromising the security of the ATM. NCR SelfServ ATMs feature
“self-healing” capabilities that automatically
recover from soft failures without intervention, reducing recovery time
from three to four hours to just ten to 15 minutes. BNZ will deploy 2ST
on more than three dozen NCR SelfServ ATMs,
including the SelfServ 22, SelfServ 25 and SelfServ 34.
NCR’s “Aptra Passport” is now integrated with Mitek’s
“ImageNet Mobile Deposit” software for check deposits with data-enabled mobile phones.
The new “NCR APTRA Mobile Passport” solution compliments the APTRA
Commercial Passport, remote deposit capture software that allows
deposits using check scanners from their businesses directly to the
financial institution or via online banking web site.
The software enables customers to deposit checks by using
their mobile phone’s camera as a scanner, capturing an image of both
sides of the check and transmitting those images to their financial
institution for deposit.
In addition to integrating mobile deposit functionality to APTRA
Commercial Passport, NCR will also offer ImageNet Mobile Deposit as a
Software as a Service (SaaS) within the APTRA Passport Validation
