Diners Club International, part of the Discover Global Network, and Bangkok Bank are set to implement their merchant acquiring partnership. Under the agreement, merchants using the Bangkok Bank terminal network will be able to accept Diners Club International, Discover, BC Global, DinaCard and RuPay cards, which are all part of the Discover Global Network. The Discover Global Network is the third-largest payments network in the world, operating in more than 185 countries. Diners Club International became the first multi-purpose charge card in the world, launching a financial revolution in how consumers and companies pay for products and services.
JetPay Corporation appointed Diane (Vogt) Faro to its Board of Directors. With a career of over 30 years in the payments industry, Faro brings executive expertise in management, sales, and the merchant acquiring and Independent Sales Organization sides of the payment business. Faro is currently President of National Benefit Programs (“NBP”), a provider of discounted business services, as well as a private consultant to the payments industry. Previously, she served as President of Global Merchant Services at First Data Corporation, which processed over $30 billion in transaction volume resulting in over $100 million in annual revenues. Ms. Faro was the CEO of Chase Merchant Services, LLC-from 1997 to 2002. Chase Merchant Services, an alliance between First Data Corporation and J.P. Morgan Chase, was the largest merchant acquirer in the world at that time.

PayAnywhere announced they have teamed with Discover Financial Services, a direct banking and payment services company with one of the most recognized brands in U.S. financial services, to offer PayAnywhere merchants the ability to accept PayPal at the point of sale. This means that PayAnywhere merchants will be able to accept PayPal and will be able to tap into PayPal’s rapidly growing customer base that has swelled to more than 55 million active customers in the U.S., more and more of whom are using the PayPal payment card.
Ally Bank expanded its Ally Mobile Banking app to include two new offerings designed to help customers conveniently access and manage their money on the go. Customers can now use their smartphones to send and receive Popmoney payments as well as make recurring electronic fund transfers between Ally and non-Ally bank accounts. Popmoney, a payment service that allows customers to electronically send money to other people, offers a convenient alternative to sending cash or checks to friends and family or to pay service providers. The service allows Ally Bank customers to send money to anyone in the U.S. who has a U.S. bank account – the recipient does not need to have an Ally Bank account. Popmoney has been available to Ally customers since 2011. In addition to using their smartphones for regular Popmoney transactions, users will now be able to view scheduled payments and payment history as well as set up and manage Popmoney contacts in Ally Mobile Banking.
Western Union payment services launched “My WU” reloadable prepaid card in conjunction with Lottomatica, which is now part of the Western Union Global Share platform. Western Union launched new stored-value solutions in markets around the world by joining forces with local companies. The “My WU” prepaid card is designed to serve the more than 4 million registered migrant workers in Italy who need convenient access to financial services. The cards will be available at 15,000 Lottomatica Carta Lis locations throughout Italy and online at wu.com/it/mywu/prepaid. Customers also will have the option to reload their My WU prepaid cards at more than 22,000 locations and over 10,000 ATMs across Italy. The “My WU” cardholders will also be able to fund Western Union Money Transfer transactions using their cards at Lottomatica locations where the service is available.
TSYS announced an agreement with Discover to process PayPal payment transactions within the contiguous United States. In August 2012, PayPal entered into a service provider relationship with Discover under which PayPal obtains access to participating merchants’ brick and mortar locations through Discover’s technological infrastructure. PayPal offers consumers several advantages, one of which is that PayPal can serve as a single source to access customers’ credit or debit cards, bank accounts, PayPal balances, or Bill Me Later payment methods all stored in their PayPal accounts at a point-of-sale terminal.
