The first Bitcoin ATM “Bitcoin Bodega” opens on the Las Vegas strip by Coin Cloud. The Bitcoin Bodega highlights a recent trend in bitcoin tourism, providing digital currency enthusiasts with a quick, easy and safe means to buy or sell bitcoin. Coin Cloud provides consumers convenient access to bitcoin, allowing customers to store money on the blockchain and access it with ease.
American Eagle Credit Union is the first credit union in Missouri to deploy NCR’s new interactive, remote video technology to deliver personal teller services to its members. This offers members live video interaction. The NCR Interactive Teller lets the credit union offer members the benefits of the personal service experience of a branch via a drive-up unit. Interactive Teller acts as a “virtual teller window”, giving members the ability to make transactions as they would inside the branch such as withdrawals, deposits and payments, transfers, and check cashing. The new technology will lower processing costs and provide faster transactions. One service representative can attend to as many four machines at multiple branch locations, enabling the employees at those locations to focus on in-branch member connections.
Cadence Bank will install two drive-up APTRA Interactive Teller units from NCR Corporation, which will extend service hours and create friendly and efficient customer experiences. APTRA Interactive Teller ATM-based technology allows people to talk to a live remote teller, while giving the teller remote control over the machine to conduct transactions. Adding an additional 10 hours of branch service each week to a typical financial institution branch can cost as much as $50,000 per year. APTRA Interactive Teller can conduct approximately 95 percent of typical teller transactions over the same timeframe at a fraction of the operational cost. Through its APTRA Interactive Tellers, Cadence can offer secure teller services during non-traditional banking hours and provide full teller services in areas not served by branches.
Bank of America launched its ATM with Teller Assist next-generation banking offering. Combining the technology and convenience of an ATM with the human touch of a teller, this new technology gives customers access to a range of services during extended hours to address their daily banking needs. It also provides convenience, control and flexibility over how, when and where they bank. Using the new ATMs, customers can speak with a Bank of America teller via real-time video and receive the same quality of personal assistance they would if they walked up to a banking center counter. The “ATM with Teller Assist Cash” lets users cash checks for the exact amount, including receiving change; receive cash withdrawals in a variety of denominations ($1, $5, $20 and $100), deposit checks with cash back (future functionality), split a deposit into two or more accounts (future functionality).
The new U.S. Bank “Find US+” Application for iPhone allows on-the-go users to easily find and access more digitally enhanced information about the closest U.S. Bank branch or ATM. The new Find US+ App, based on augmented reality, merges the real world with a digital experience, creating a new way for customers with iPhones to locate U.S. Bank branches and ATMs. When pointed in a specific direction, the phone displays a computer-generated graphic for each location (branch or ATM), its address and distance based on the user’s GPS location. Each graphic is color-coded to reflect whether the location is open, closing in an hour or closed. The app recognizes when the user arrives at the destination and asks if additional information is requested. It also provides the best route and hours of operation.
Diebold and University Federal Credit Union are combining deposit automation technology with personal interactions in a teller-less environment. With this, University Federal Credit Union (UFCU) will soon offer a teller-less banking environment with plans to open three teller-less branches in the Austin, Texas region to offer independent, yet personalized, banking experiences. UFCU designed open, inviting branches and Diebold will provide a unique terminal that will combine self-service deposit automation technology with personal human interaction. UFCU’s custom-designed Diebold ATMs support envelope-free transactions in which users load cash and checks directly into the machine. Enhanced note acceptors accept up to 50 mixed-denomination notes, and intelligent depository modules process checks and bill payment documents.
Wincor Nixdorf has finalized a deal with Winston-Salem based BB&T Corporation to provide ATM hardware and associated services for up to 100 branch and off-premise locations in North Carolina and Florida. The 100 new ATMs will all feature touch screen capabilities, a new functional enhancement for the BB&T fleet. These units will be equipped with Wincor Nixdorf’s ProFlex multi-vendor ATM software. In addition to its ATMs, Wincor Nixdorf also offers “ProFlex” advanced multi-vendor software platform that allows all ATMs to work together seamlessly, regardless of manufacturer. Wincor was the first to develop multi-vendor software and currently leads the industry in the total number of installations worldwide.
Over 600 U.S. financial institutions are improving their customer experience with NCRâs intelligent deposit solutions. The NCR “SelfServ” ATMs are helping institutions nearly double their ATM deposits yearly and reduce deposit transaction costs by 75%. Meanwhile, eliminating the need for envelopes addresses many financial institutionsâ environmental initiatives by reducing deposit envelope consumption, as U.S. banks have collectively used as many as 3,500,000,000 envelopes per year. NCR intelligent deposit ATMs allow bank customers to deposit checks and cash directly into the ATM, at which point the check image and related data is captured and electronically submitted to the back office for processing immediately upon completion of the transaction. Customers are then dispensed a receipt with an imprinted image of the deposit for instant proof of the transaction.
NC-based BB&T Bank has signed on Wincor Nixdorf to provide “ProCash” ATMs, software and associated services.
BB&T is purchasing a range of models, including Wincorâs ProCash NDC ATM
terminal software, along with the companyâs ongoing first- and
second-line servicing, maintenance and support. Installation of initial
units is scheduled for completion by the end of 2009, with additional
installations planned for 2010. BB&T holds $152.4 billion in assets and operates
more than 1,500 banking offices.
StopStickingItToUs Coalition and the President and CEO of Retail Council
of Canada has commended the Competition Bureau for investigating Visa
and MasterCard under the “abuse of dominance” rules of the Canadian
Competition Act. The public
announcement of the investigation came at the opening session of Senate
Banking Committee hearings that will “study the credit and debit card
systems in Canada and their relative rates and fees, in particular for
businesses and consumers”.
CA-based Alta Vista Credit Union is offering its 13,000 members NCR’s “self-healing” ATMS which offer envelope-free deposits. The NCR SelfServ family offers “Intelligent Deposit” and self-healing technology that allows the ATM to quickly recover from soft failures with no need for service intervention. The AVCU order includes NCR “SelfServ 30 Series” ATMs, which offer the most comprehensive capabilities, NCR’s “APTRA” software and a three-year second-line services agreement.
NC-based BB&T Bank will purchase 300 Diebold “Opteva” ATMs for installation at bank branches and off-premises sites. The order includes a mix of “Opteva” models used by BB&T to upgrade its network of approximately 2,100 ATMs between now and 2010. An initial group of 20 Opteva terminals will be installed by the end of 2007. Diebold developed Opteva’s advanced design features based on extensive global consumer research. The company engineered the machine from the ground up with entirely new architecture. At the time it was introduced, Opteva contained 40 exclusive product features, each designed to provide added customer convenience, enhanced security and comprehensive service offerings. BB&T has $130.8 billion in assets and more than 1,500 financial centers in 11 states and Washington, D.C.
