DB Card Services in the Netherlands has issued the 1.3 millionth Card Issued by Prepaid Financial Services. The DB Card is a Euro Prepaid MasterCard launched in 2013 by PFS and DB Cardservice, an innovative payment provider and distributor based in Netherlands.

Oberthur Technologies has been selected by Advanced Info Service telecom operator to provide “MIFARE DESFire” secure, contactless technology embedded in an NFC SIM card. The NFC SIM card with embedded MIFARE DESFire™ technology, DragonFly, is being launched for the first time in Asia with AIS, and will enable a mobile phone to be used as an e-purse to pay for public transportation and goods in Bangkok. Service users can also directly top-up credit on their SIM card and check both their balance and transaction history using their mobile phones. This new generation of NFC SIM card, boasts increased speed, security and convenience as well as best-in-class certifications and an integrated anti-virus. The dragonFly also allows rich applications to be embarked on the SIM.
EZ-Link card issuer is now using Wirecard Group’s mobile top-up service via its NFC mobile application, letting consumers to make NFC payments at the POS. Wirecard supports the process for consumers to conveniently add money to their EZ-Link purse on the go, simply using their NFC-enabled phone. EZ-Link has issued more than 12 million CEPAS-compliant cards, which is a contact-free e-Purse application. The EZ-Link card is accepted at a rapidly expanding network of acceptance points across the country.
FIME has provided consultancy services to Net1 UEPS Technologies – a leading provider of secure and affordable transaction channels to developing countries – which has resulted in a MasterCard Compliance Assessment and Security Testing (CAST) certification for its South African e-purse payment solution. Net1 provides alternative payment solutions for populations in developing economies with no, or limited access to traditional banking facilities. Net1 appointed FIME to assist in the preparation for evaluation and certification of its e-purse application in line with MasterCard security requirements.
Mike Isbister, a senior security consultant with Confide, is now Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) certified from the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council and qualified to audit merchants for PCI DSS Compliance. Mike has a BSc (Hons) in computer science from Victoria University of Wellington and joined Confide last year as a senior security consultant. Confide is a Wellington-based company providing specialist assistance, advice and solutions to help merchants comply with PCI DSS.
Oberthur Technologies’ “Smart Authentication 3-D Secure” solution, operated by Managed Services, has been granted PCI DSS certification. With this, Oberthur Technologies has successfully passed more than 200 points of control aiming at guarantying the secure processing, transmission and storage of cardholder data for its “Smart Authentication” solution. These include network security (firewall configuration and security system parameters), cardholder’s data protection (storage and transmission encryption) and vulnerability management (anti-virus, system and application security).
