A recent ControlScan and Merchant Acquirers’ Committee (MAC) survey shows over the past year acquirers’ PCI program goals have shifted from a primary focus on risk mitigation to revenue generation. The annual survey by ControlScan, “Risk and Revenue: Second Annual Survey of the Acquirer’s Perspective on Level 4 Merchant PCI Compliance, measures acquirers’ attitudes and objectives surrounding their Level 4 merchant PCI compliance programs. Level 4 merchants process fewer than 20,000 online credit card transactions or fewer than one million face-to-face credit card transactions annually. These merchants are typically small to mid-sized businesses (SMBs) and they represent 98 percent of all U.S. retailers.
New U.S. Bank FlexPerks Visa are invited to try a new m-payment service called U.S. Bank “Go Mobile,” which allows customers to securely pay for everyday purchases with a wave of their iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S. U.S. Bank is introducing the service in Beta with FlexPerks Travel Rewards Visa Signature account holders before introducing it more broadly in 2013. For this, U.S. Bank FlexPerks customers who opt-in for the service will receive a customized U.S. Bank Go Mobile iPhone NFC case along with their new card, accepted wherever Visa payWave is deployed. U.S. Bank “Go Mobile” ultimately lets customers pay for purchases with their iPhone with their FlexPerks card, even when they don’t have the card with them.
Bremer Bank has implemented Fiserv Mobiliti as its mobile banking, payments and alerting engine, allowing customers to securely access their financial information via their choice of SMS (text messaging), mobile browser and downloadable applications for Android and iPhone. This will allows checking balances, locating ATMs, receiving alerts, paying bills and transferring funds. Mobiliti will seamlessly integrate with Bremer’s existing online banking and bill pay systems, Corillian Online and CheckFree RXP from Fiserv. It also allows consumers to more closely manage their finances by signing up for alerts that notify them of important account-related activity such as low balances or large withdrawals.
Capital One Bank has launched Mobile Deposit Capture, allowing customers to make check deposits right from their iPhone or Android smartphones. The new Mobile Deposit Capture tool is seamlessly integrated with Capital One’s existing Remote Deposit service, providing the same level of security, scalability, and functionality, now in a mobile platform. Users just download the Capital One Business Deposits app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, Log in, endorse the check, photograph the front and back of the check and submit the deposit. Checks can be deposited as late as 9:00 PM ET, Monday-Friday, for credit that same day.
Wells Fargo & Company announced the nationwide expansion of Wells Fargo Mobile Deposit, allowing users with an Android or iPhone device to deposit checks into their eligible Wells Fargo accounts by taking pictures of the front and back of the check. Customers already used Wells Fargo Mobile Deposit to deposit more than 600,000 checks. Customers just choose the eligible consumer or business account where they want to deposit their check, enter the check amount, and use their mobile device to take a picture of the front and back of the endorsed check. After they submit their deposit, Wells Fargo sends a confirmation message. For this, Wells Fargo uses advanced encryption and security technology to mask sensitive information.
American Express chose FIS’ InstantFunds Mobile technology to provide mobile-driven remote check capture for Bluebird accounts. FIS InstantFunds Mobile enables consumers to use their smartphones to scan a check and add funds into their account, thus limiting fraud by leveraging FIS’ analytics and payment guaranty technologies.
