East Carolina Bank is securing its ACH, wire transfers and online banking offerings with the IronKey “Trusted Access” portable USB form factor as a downloadable software application. IronKey allows the bank to meet and exceed new Federal Financial Institutions Examinations Council (FFIEC) guidance to reduce the risk of online banking fraud. The “Trusted Access” solution assures customers they are accessing an authentic site and that their transactions are not being monitored or tampered with by criminals. It also meets NACHA and FBI recommendations for safe online banking by providing a dedicated, isolated and secure browser environment.
Sybase 365 mobile messaging and mobile commerce services announced its strategic alliance with the Qtel Group telecommunications services. The Qtel Mobile Money service will allow Qtel Group customers to use their mobile phone accounts to save and transfer money, top-up their credit and make payments at home and abroad via their mobile devices. Qtel Mobile Money service enabled by Sybase 365 mobile wallet software will help the Qtel Group support SMS, Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD), mobile browser, downloadable client, STK and works on any mobile device.
Xpress Money unveiled its new look, which comes at a time the money transfer giant can announce record growth. By the end of 2011, Xpress Money will register a 52% increase in its agent network size taking it from 85,000 locations in 95 countries to 135,000 locations in 125 countries. This network comprises of leading banks, NBFCs, Exchange Houses, Postal Unions and Single Agent Locations. Meanwhile, in Europe, the Company will grow to about 1000 locations by the end of 2012.
Under the pressure of criticism and response to customer feedback, Bank of America no longer intends to implement a $5 monthly debit usage fee. Concerned with the debit usage fee, customers’ voices sounded a collective “NO!” Subsequently, the Bank will not be moving forward with any additional plans to implement the fee.

EastNets will provide the full infrastructure needed to host Qtel’s “mobile wallet” service, running the entire operation of the hosted services through a primary site in Dubai and a Disaster Recovery (DR) site in Bahrain. Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) will connect to the primary and DR sites through a secure VPN Connection. Qtel’s mobile wallet service allows customers to use their mobile phone accounts to send money, top up their credit, make payments and transfer airtime to friends and relatives. EastNets will also deliver compliance and anti-money laundering (AML) solutions to the Qtel Group through the en.SafeWatch Profiling as a Service (PaaS).
