Bank of America Merrill Lynch announced that its electronic bank account management (eBAM) service is now available to a wide range of corporate and commercial clients in the United States and Europe. The extension of service follows a successful yearlong pilot with several early adopter clients. The “eBAM” integrated global application helps automate and standardize the opening, closing and maintenance of bank accounts, treasury services and bank record of legal entities. It facilitates the addition and deletion of authorized signatories and the digital execution of documents using e-signature technology, virtually eliminating the need for ink signatures. In addition, reporting capabilities provide an audit trail of account management activities as well as a view into account signatories. Clients gain control by checking the status online and receiving email notifications regarding eBAM activity.

Bank of America, the Official Bank of the San Fransisco Giants, launched an integrated marketing program that ties the game’s ultimate defensive play with the new “BankAmericard Cash Rewards” credit card. Automatically rewarding customers with 1 percent, 2 percent and up to 3 percent cash back on their most common purchases, the new card is in response to customer requests for a program that rewards consumers for the spending categories they use most, such as gas and groceries. It rewards customers automatically earn 1% cash back on all purchases, 2% cash back on grocery store purchases, and 3% on gas station purchases. Customers earn the 2 percent and 3 percent cash back on gas and grocery purchases on the first $1,500 they spend in those combined categories per quarter. After that, they continue to earn one percent on purchases.
Bank of America is launching “BankAmericard” Cash Rewards and Cash Rewards for Business MasterCard credit cards that reward customers with up to 3% cash back on certain purchases. The “BankAmericard” Cash Rewards card includes a 10% bonus when customers deposit their cash rewards into their Bank of America checking or savings account. Both cards have no expiration on rewards. The new “BankAmericard” Cash Rewards credit card includes 1% cash back on all purchases; 2% back on grocery store purchases; and 3% on gas station purchases. Meanwhile, customers earn 2-3% cash back on gas and grocery purchases up to the first $1,500 per quarter. For Business MasterCard credit card offers 1% on all purchases; 3% on all restaurant purchases; and 3% on office supply store, gas station and computer network service purchases.

Bank of America Corporation agreed to sell approximately 13.1 billion common shares of China Construction Bank Corporation (CCB) in a private transaction with a group of investors, expected to generate approximately $8.3 billion in cash proceeds. After completion, Bank of America will hold approximately 5% of CCB and would remove the significant investment in financial institutions deduction from the company’s Tier 1 common capital under Basel III associated with this CCB stake.

American Express announced the impending launch of a new online travel solution designed for small businesses, powered by Rearden Commerce eCommerce platform company. This will help small firms benefit from best in class corporate negotiated rates for airfare, hotel and car rental provided by American Express Global Business Travel. Business owners will also have access to other features such as reporting capabilities, in-destination services, and the ability to set policy controls for employee business travel spending to control costs. Bank of America has agreed to sell its $8.6 billion Canadian credit card business to TD Bank Group and that it will exit its credit card businesses in the U.K. and Ireland. This continues the transformation of Bank of America’s credit card business, following the sale of the U.K. Business Lending portfolio, the agreement to sell the Spanish card business, and the company’s continued exit from the depository institution affinity credit card business with the recent sales of the Regions and Sovereign credit card portfolios. The U.K. and Ireland card folios have $19 billion in credit card loans and more than 4,000 employees.
