VeriFone Mobile Money is pleased to announce that it has been selected by Teasy Mobile (“Teasy”) in Nigeria to widen mobile money services and make them more relevant to local needs. Alpha Bank and Vodafone, in partnership with Visa Europe and First Data, introduce “Tap n Pay” NFC mphone app for contactless payments. With a Vodafone mobile SIM card, on which the Alpha Bank Enter Visa debit card, is stored. The Tap ‘n Pay application enables contactless transactions in shops where contactless card acceptance terminals are in use, by debiting the bank account that is linked to the debit card. In order to complete the transaction, users must hold their mobile phone within five centimeters of the contactless terminal, and the transaction will be completed securely in a split second, without requiring either a signature on a transaction receipt or the entry of a PIN number.
Fiserv announced its “Device Manage” device monitoring, performance measurement, and service dispatch and management system is now available as a software as a service (SaaS) solution. CIBC and TELUS announced the launch of the CIBC Mobile Payment App to TELUS mobile devices with Near-Field Communications (NFC) capability, allowing more Canadians to have access to mobile payments. TELUS customers using the app and a CIBC credit card account will be able to make mobile payments at many of the most popular retailers in Canada including coffee shops and grocery stores.
The SD Association (SDA), a global ecosystem of companies setting industry-leading memory card standards, and the NFC Forum, a non-profit industry association that advances the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, today announced a formal Memorandum of Understanding that will enable the two organizations to jointly educate the market and help build the ecosystem for NFC among users of smartSD memory cards. The SDA will work with NFC Forum Special Interest Groups to educate and promote adoption of NFC in conjunction with smartSD memory cards to target vertical markets including consumer electronics, mobile payment, retail, transport and health care. Some of the joint activities under consideration include workshops for target vertical markets, white papers, case studies, consumer research, webcasts, and hosted events or trade shows that demonstrate the business and consumer benefits of using NFC and smartSD memory cards together.
