Hypercom Corporation has expanded portfolio of high security payment and digital transaction solutions validated in compliance with the EMV POS specification of Germany’s Central Credit Committee, the Zentraler Kreditausschuss (ZKA). With ZKA approval of the already-approved Artema Hybrid, now configured with cardholder-facing S10 PIN Pad, Hypercom strengthens its position as the leading provider of payment and digital transaction solutions to the German market. The latest approval follows ZKA certification in May 2009 for Hypercom’s “Optimum T4200” countertop terminals with options for ISDN, TCP/IP and GPRS connectivity, as well as the M4240 Bluetooth and M4230 GPRS mobile models, all with integrated smart card readers.

transaction terminal, also known as “The Blade”. Distributed by
Computer Network Systems (CNS), “The Blade” is a 32-bit wireless
signature capture device that is battery operated and requires no external modem, designed for the authorization of credit and debit card
transactions. Mashreq Bank serves 50% of households and over
9,000 merchants in the UAE. The bank has 47 Branches throughout the
UAE and Qatar and is among the fastest growing banks in the Middle
East with plans for expansion into Bahrain, India, Egypt, Hong Kong,
the United Kingdom and the United States. Hypercom provides
electronic payment solutions in over 100 countries.

Hypercom Unveils Optimum M4100 Blade

Hypercom has unveiled the first high-security palm-sized 32-bit wireless credit/debit terminal with signature capture touch screen. The new “Optimum M4100 Blade” weighs 7.1 ounces and measuring 4.9 inches long, 2.7 inches wide, and 1.15 inches deep. It is also Wi-Fi, GPRS and Bluetooth-equipped. An optional clip-on printer with speeds of 12 lines per second (lps), delivering 100 two-receipt transactions per reloadable packet is also available. Additionally, it offers easy recharging and dial back-up by simply plugging into any wall socket or optional docking station with optional communication modules for downloads and transaction back-up via V.90 modem or Ethernet.

Optimum T2100 to Assist EMV Migration

Hypercom’s “Optimum T2100” card payment terminal has joined the “Visa Smart Breakthrough Acceptance Device Program” to facilitate EMV migration in Europe, Latin America and Asia. The Optimum T2100 includes high-speed transactions based on a 32-bit RISC processor with 12 megabytes of memory, stringent security achieving EMV 4.0 certification with secure casing, Visa PED certified and Triple DES and RSA cryptographic support. Hypercom’s card payment terminal, network and server solutions enable the processing of electronic payments in more than 100 countries.

Provenco Group plans to roll-out Hypercom EMV-compliant terminals to merchants nationwide. The deal is valued at US$6.7 million and covers the next two years. Provenco has been a distributor for Hypercom for 20 years. Provenco’s business focus is on retail transaction technology, from a customer using an EFTPOS machine at a corner store in New Zealand to a motorist at a petrol pump in Asia.

Hypercom Places a Major Order for OTI Readers

Hypercom has ordered its first commercial quantities of New Jersey-based On Track Innovations’ contactless reader solutions. OTI’s system is compliant with MasterCard’s “PayPass” and American Express’ “ExpressPay.” The OTI readers will be integrated into Hypercom’s “Optimum T4100” and “L4100” card payment terminals. Hypercom has already integrated into its solution set OTI’s contactless “Saturn 5000” reader, which offers a plug-and-play retro-fit option to merchants already using Hypercom technology at the point-of-transaction. The combined solution also allows issuers to provide consumers with highly secure contactless cards and key fobs with smart stickers and custom designs, such as new specially equipped watches that feature transaction capabilities.

Hypercom Wins a euroConex Contract

US Bancorp/NOVA’s euroConex unit has awarded Hypercom a $4 million contract for the migration to “chip and PIN” in Ireland. Hypercom’s “ICE 5500” and “HFT 106” terminal technology will be used in the migration. The first “Chip and PIN” transaction in Ireland using Hypercom’s “ICE” card transaction technology occurred in Naas/Newbridge. That transaction used a UK “Switch” card taken as “International Maestro” on Hypercom’s “ICE 5500” card payment terminal and “HFT 106” PIN pad. euroConex provides an integrated payments processing service to banks and merchants in Ireland, the UK, France, Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain and Poland using a multi-currency platform.

Technology, has signed a licensing and distribution agreement
with Hypercom to deploy the “ICE” family of terminals. Rahaxi provides a variety of credit card processing and merchant services ranging from merchant accounts to Internet-based credit card processing. FreeStar currently processes approximately 1,000,000 card payments per month for an established client base that comprises companies such as Finnair, Ikea and Stockman.

Hypercom on a Proverbial Roll this Year

Hypercom says the skyrocketing growth in debit cards, the U.S. move to electronic transactions from paper-based transactions, and smart card growth in Europe and Latin America, is helping to drive its revenues by 10% to 15% this year. Yesterday, the terminal manufacturer’s CEO said Hypercom is on a proverbial roll. This year Hypercom has introduced the “Optimum L4100” compact signature capture card payment terminal; the “Optimum T4100” a high speed card payment terminal using Intel “XScale” technology for smaller merchants; the “Optimum M2100” wireless, hand held terminal; the “IN-tact 1101” a low cost IP gateway device; and, the “S9” PED and EMV certified “Infoguard” tested payment device. Less than two months ago, the global payment technology leader also announced that it has entered the dial and IP POS transaction network business with its new high performance “HBNet” network that gives processors a competitive source for information delivery services.
