First Data has introduced an affordable POS terminal featuring solid design and construction, easy operation and state-of-the-art security. The new “FD50” features touch-screen technology, five USB ports, 64 megabytes of memory, and is off-the-shelf multi-language capable. It is the latest addition to the expanding First Data proprietary terminal line, which already includes the “FD100.” The “FD50” terminal supports both dial-up and IP communications. With the addition of optional peripheral equipment, the “FD50” terminal can also accept contactless payments, and checks using TeleCheck ECA or paper solutions.

Retalix’s StoreNext Retail Technologies and First Data have signed an agreement that enables independent grocers to access a variety of “TeleCheck Electronic Check Solutions” via StoreNext’s recently-announced “Connected Payments” program. Under terms of the agreement, StoreNext will offer First Data’s “TeleCheck Electronic Check Acceptance” integrated solution for supermarkets to all Connected Payments users in an exclusive check-processing arrangement. The TeleCheck ECA solution lets grocers convert paper checks into electronic transactions while incorporating authorization, settlement and collections through its “TeleCheck ECA Warranty” service. StoreNext Retail Technologies is a supplier of retail technology to independent grocers and regional chains.

TeleCheck Services Inks Meijer Supercenters

First Data’s TeleCheck Services has entered into an agreement with Meijer Supercenters to offer “TeleCheck Electronic Check Acceptance Warranty” service. This will enable Meijer to cost-effectively authorize and process check transactions electronically at the point of sale. Meijer customers will benefit from increased security and convenience as they present checks for payment. TeleCheck provides a broad suite of electronic and paper check processing services with a guarantee volume of $25 billion and total electronic check volume of $37 billion.Over 40% of the more than 500 million transactions processed by TeleCheck are ECA transactions processed at the point of purchase.

The Georgia Restaurant Association, along with the National Restaurant Association and First Data announced the Georgia launch of the “TakeCharge” payment program, designed specifically for the restaurant industry. “TakeCharge” provides increased payment choices and attractive rates for credit card processing to small and mid-size merchants in addition to national chains. In addition to exclusive rates for credit card processing, members receive easy-to-understand billing; acceptance for all major credit cards provided through First Data’s alliances with various banks; PIN-secured and signature-based debit acceptance through leading networks like the STAR Network; and the availability of merchandising programs including loyalty and gift cards; Internet Protocol (IP) based, near instant processing; the TeleCheck Electronic Check Acceptance (ECA) service; and Dynamic Currency Conversion services.

AutoZone Stores to Use TeleCheck Services

AutoZone’s 3,592 stores nationwide are now using the TeleCheck “Electronic Check Acceptance” service and the TeleCheck “Guarantee” service. The TeleCheck ECA service converts a paper check issued by the consumer into an electronic item, and settles funds using the same system many consumers trust with automatically deposited paychecks. By removing the paper from the transaction, the ECA service eliminates the back office support traditionally required by a merchant for deposits and returns.
