USA Tech Partners Eaton, Expands Cashless Payment Market

USA Technologies wireless, cashless payment and machine to machine (M2M) telemetry solutions for small-ticket, self-serve retailing industries, has expanded its cashless payment and M2M services in the kiosk market with electric vehicle stations sold by existing customer, Eaton Corporation (“Eaton”). Eaton, whose AC Level 2 Electric Vehicle charging stations already include an option for USAT’s ePort® technology for secure, cashless payment acceptance, has recently added their new, high-powered DC Quick Charger to this cashless lineup. Its DC Quick Charger provides fast and convenient electric vehicle charging with the ability to charge a vehicle’s battery to 80 percent capacity in as little as 30 minutes. Using USAT’s ePort technology, Eaton’s latest DC Quick Charger now includes an option for magnetic credit card swipe acceptance and offers consumers the opportunity to pay through time-based intervals or a flat rate.

Preem Implements Protegrity Tokenisation for PCI-DSS Compliance

Protegrity’s solutions use modern tokenisation to ensure flexible, scalable security for customer data in transit and at rest without impacting transaction processing speeds. Why Protegrity In evaluating the different technologies available, Preem determined that the simplest way to achieve PCI-DSS compliance would be to adopt the tokenisation approach. Tokenisation protects sensitive data by replacing it with tokens that hold no value to someone who gains unauthorized access to that data.

Johnson and Johnson Installs Signbox NFC Smart Poster

Signbox has recently completed an installation of innovative Enlighten smart poster displays at the High Wycombe office of pharmaceutical company, Johnson & Johnson. On a prominent wall at the Consumer Healthcare site, Enlighten is the central display feature for the company’s Healthy Future initiative. A total of 11 Enlighten smart posters feature on a double wall spread of environmental graphics replacing the Healthy Future 2010 display, originally installed by Signbox in 2005. Staff and visitors can now download information programmed into the NFC (Near field communication) tag in the poster via a smartphone in a single elegant swipe.

Fifth Third Opens First Green Banking Center in North Carolina

Fifth Third formally announces the opening of its Wilkinson Banking Center located at 2752 Ashley Road in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Wilkinson Banking Center is Fifth Third’s first green banking center in its North Carolina market and its second facility in its 12-state footprint. The Company opened its first green location in Orlando, FL, in May of this year. The Wilkinson facility was designed to use less energy and water than standard buildings and incorporates a number of environmentally-advanced features that lessen its impact on the environment. The facility will pursue Silver recognition under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards set by the U.S. Green Building Council.

MasterCard & Home Depot Donate to HforH

MasterCard Worldwide and The Home Depot are supporting Energy Awareness Month, donating 10% of the appliance price of all purchases of ENERGY STAR qualified appliance products made with a MasterCard card at The Home Depot through Oct. 31 to Habitat for Humanity International up to $1 million U.S. dollars. ENERGY STAR appliances include refrigerators, freezers, clothes washers and dishwashers. ENERGY STAR qualified appliances can provide significant savings on consumers’ monthly utility bills. Habitat for Humanity International and The Home Depot Foundation partnered in 2009 to launch a five-year green building initiative to help Habitat affiliates in the United States incorporate sustainable building practices in 5,000 homes.

Akamai Launches EdgePlatform Tokenization

Akamai Technologies cloud optimization unveiled the “Edge Tokenization” electronic payment security service on its “EdgePlatform,” allowing credit card data to be converted to a token prior to Web transactions landing on a merchant’s infrastructure. By alleviating the requirement for retailers to route customer credit card data on their own infrastructure, the service helps reduce information theft and compliance risk while lowering PCI-DSS compliance costs. With “Edge Tokenization,” consumer credit card data is identified and replaced with an anonymous token, which is automated within the Akamai cloud to provide exceptional levels of payment security and operational convenience for Web retailers without the need to increase spending on internal infrastructure. Akamai has integrated its cloud-based technology with tokenization solutions from CyberSource payment management services.

in Auckland. The 4000 metreÃÂ² purpose-built centre houses what is believed to be the
most advanced data centre in New Zealand. The data centre will be an integral part of all of ANZ New Zealand’s
banking systems including retail banking systems (branch, EFTPOS, ATM
and online banking), corporate and institutional banking and
transactions. It operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week which
mirrors the hours ANZ New Zealand customers can transact with the bank.

AmEx Upgrades its My Wishlist to Daily Wish

American Express has launched a new online marketplace for its cardholders that offers a wide range of hand-picked products and experiences with savings up to 50% off. The “Daily Wish” marketplace, for example, will offer cardholders on May 28th the opportunity to purchase a limited number of energy-efficient 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid cars that normally sell for about $23,000 for the amazing price of $12,160. “Daily Wish” expands on the five year old American Expressâ “My Wishlist” program. Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, a new collection of offers and products becomes available. On the sale day, the sale time is revealed and a countdown begins. Once the sale begins, cardholders can click on the “I Want It” button and the opportunity to buy is given to the first participants, until quantities of the item on sale run out. During the next few weeks, “Daily Wish” will feature savings on a number of sought-after home and electronic products including unique Las Vegas vacations.

Intel Unveils a POS POC Kiosk

UMB Goes Green with the Eco Rewards Visa

Another U.S. credit card issuer is going “green.” Kansas City-based UMB Financial has introduced the “Eco Rewards Visa.” The new card offers one point for every dollar in purchases; two points for every dollar of interest billed; and additional points for “green” purchases. Cardholders who apply before August 31st earn double points on every purchase for the first 90 days the account is open. Qualified “green” purchases include everything from energy-efficient light bulbs to ENERGY STAR appliances. Cardholders need to complete a basic online redemption process to claim these double points. Points may be redeemed for cash, merchandise, gift cards or travel; however, points may now also be allocated as a donation to a variety of local and national environmental organizations. ENERGY STAR, Green Seal and the Forest Stewardship Council have officially endorsed the “Eco Rewards Visa. UMB also notes that all applications and statements will be produced electronically, plus any required print materials will be produced with recycled paper. Other issuers offering “green” cards include: GE Money’s “Earth Rewards Platinum MasterCard”; Bank of America’s “Brighter Planet VISA”; MetaBank’s “GreenPay MasterCard”; and MBNA Canada Bank’s “Eco-Logique MasterCard.”
