The payments industry and retail industry have chimed in with their excitement with the new Apple Pay mobile payments. Apple Pay will work with the newly announced iPhone 6, iPhone Plus and Apple Watch as well as the iPhone 5, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s.
Visa announced the launch of Visa Checkout, a quick and easy payment service that enables consumers throughout the United States, Canada and Australia to pay for goods online, on any device. For consumers and online retailers, Visa Checkout offers an easy and secure way to pay online. Enrolling in Visa Checkout is intuitive and simple, and shoppers can use any Visa debit or credit card or even other branded cards to make purchases from a PC, mobile device or within a mobile app. Once enrolled, shoppers simply provide their username and password to complete the payment process — without ever having to leave the merchant’s website. Visa Checkout replaces the V.me by Visa service, first introduced in 2012. Leading payments card issuers, community banks, and credit unions are all participating in Visa Checkout.

QNB “Use & Win” campaign awarded 20 Lucky winners, whom will have payments made to Kahramaa and Qtel for the month. All QNB and Non QNB customers who used QNB ATMs to make Kahramaa and Qtel Bill payments were eligible for the promotion.The lucky draw was open to everyone in the country and included both QNB customers and customers using the ATM cards of other banks to complete their transactions. Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) and Pos Malaysia Bhd have extended their shared banking services to Sabah with a target to cover 26 selected post offices in the state this month. Under the strategic partnership launched in Kota Marudu recently, Pos Malaysia will provide a number of Maybank’s services at its selected offices. Maybank’s head of community distribution, Mohd Hanif Suadi said Maybank-Pos Malaysia also plan to introduce additional services such as money transfer and the opening of savings accounts in the near future. The initial banking services available at Kota Marudu are over-the-counter withdrawals, cash deposit and selected payments.
Ensan Charity Association and Al Rajhi Bank have launched the “Ensan”
Credit Card to support social and charity projects. The charity spending
supports key causes in the Saudi community, opening social contribution
to its holders by donating to orphans via the reward points earned when
using the card. Reward points are calculated to its equal value
according to the bank’s system and automatically deposited in the
charity’s account. Customer can also deposit additional money to the
card, allowing for a greater spending limit and charitable donation.

“EIB Skywards VISA Credit Card”, the first Islamic co-branded airline
card available to UAE consumers. Combining payment products with EIB

The new card for the United Arab Emirates offers a much higher credit limit plus worldwide priority access to VIP airport lounges, complimentary Concierge services across the globe, special global travel, dining and retail offers, complimentary travel insurance, and complimentary purchase protection. Emirates Islamic Bank also says the new “VISA Infinite” includes free online access. Following Monday’s purchasing card announcements by VISA and American Express (CF 3/30), MasterCard announced yesterday a multi-faceted strategic alliance with CT-based EC Cubed, Inc. Under the terms of the global marketing agreement, EC Cubed will provide the enabling technology for MasterCard’s business-to-business e-Commerce infrastructure and will work with MasterCard to co-develop a range of business-to-business e-Commerce applications. The first joint initiative is the development of an open, Internet-based, data capture system that supports MasterCard’s ‘Corporate Purchasing Card’. EC Cubed’s application component suite, ‘ecWorks’, will provide the underlying infrastructure needed to create an Internet ‘Commercial Card Gateway’ through which purchase order data is transmitted from any front-end electronic procurement software solution to the MasterCard purchasing card system. The MasterCard gateway will significantly extend MasterCard’s data reporting capabilities, providing the corporate purchasing department with the line-item, Level 3 data needed to better track and control enterprise-wide spending via the Internet.
