A new survey carried out by Parcel2Go has suggested that consumers are becoming increasingly confident about buying products and services using mobile phones and tablets. More than 100 people responded to the snap poll run through the Bolton-based parcel delivery specialist’s Twitter account, with 68 per cent saying they had used a mobile device such as a smartphone or an iPad to make a purchase over the internet. Perhaps unsurprisingly, major online marketplaces including eBay and Amazon were cited by a significant number of people. Just under a third of respondents said they had not made online purchases using a mobile for concerns of security and giving out payment details over a mobile connection.

PointsPay shows a rapid upswing of user adoption with 2.6% of the active program members registered; 148,000,000 points loaded (growing at 47% monthly); 3,400 prepaid cards issued; 24% of transactions carried out at merchants in store; and 83% of members remain with a positive points account balance after a transaction PointsPay was used at over 1,200 different merchants worldwide in 62 countries.
Bank of America made available its online and mobile cash back deals program, “BankAmeriDeals,” providing one-click deals they want through Bank of America’s Online Banking and Mobile Banking app. Cash back deals are put right into the customers’ account and are in addition to other rewards customers may already receive. Through the program, which has been rolling out in phases throughout the country, more than 130 million cash back deals have been served to customers. The program is free for Online Banking and Mobile Banking customers. Deals from a variety of retail categories appear in Online Banking, so customers can choose the deals they want while they’re managing their finances. Run by Cardlytics through its targeted advertising network, the program includes national as well as local and regional merchants.
American Express OPEN announced enhancements to the Plum Card (www.plumcard.com) to help small business owners better manage cash flow and free up working capital by taking advantage of the card’s built-in trade terms. With ‘Early Pay Discount,’ Cardmembers pay at least 10% of their balance within 10 days of the statement closing date, they will earn a 1.5% discount on the portion they elect to pay. Previously, Cardmembers were required to pay the balance in full to enjoy this benefit. They also get ‘Extra Days to Pay,’ when Cardmembers pay at least 10% of the balance, they can take up to 60 days from the statement closing date to pay the remaining balance without penalties or interest charges. Both options are designed to help Cardmembers better manage cash flow. The payment flexibility allows Cardmembers to adjust to changing business needs and also have the option to choose the most convenient time for the billing cycle to close — either at the beginning, middle or end of the month.
