Ingenico announces its latest client, Banco del Bajío Bank implemented its smart terminals as part of the bank’s nationwide update and expansion of its installed base. As part of that expansion BanBajío has deployed Ingenico countertop and wireless smart terminals across Mexico to offer customers secure payment. The solutions feature the most advanced payment technologies (including NFC/contactless) and satisfy the latest transaction security requirements.
VeriFone Systems announced that Banco Nacional de Costa Rica (BNCR) has selected VeriFone’s VX Evolution line of portable EMV and NFC capable point of sale terminals to enhance payment mobility and security for merchant customers throughout Costa Rica. BNCR’s migration to VeriFone’s VX Evolution terminals will enable its merchants to accept all types of payments”including traditional mag-stripe as well as EMV and NFC”from customers at and beyond the counter while complying with PCI 3.0 standards. The bank expects to install 14,000 of VeriFone’s VX Evolution terminals each year for the next four years to its installed base of approximately 32,000 Hypercom terminals. BNCR will install PCI 3.0 certified terminals from VeriFone’s VX Evolution product line. They include the VX 520, the VX 675 and the VX 680.
Worldpay Group acquired Cobre Bem Tecnologia, giving its customers access to a wide range of payment products. Cobre Bem is a payment service provider that offers single point access to popular local payment methods in Latin America, including eight different credit/debit card types and more than 20 banks for direct online transfers, direct debit and Boleto Bancario. Cobre Bem will continue to operate its current business model, and the existing Cobre Bem management team will join the senior leadership of Worldpay’s eCommerce business unit.

Indra’s NetPlus payment platform has obtained the maximum security qualification awarded by the PCI SSC for its card payment services in “the cloud” to make it easier for clients of the multinational consulting and technology firm to outsource business processes that involve credit or debit card storage or processing. It will also facilitate the maintenance of card processing rights and avoid demanding infrastructure and information system audits and the payment of fines derived from fraudulent credit card use. This initiative has also provided Indra and its data processing center in San Fernando de Henares with all the security and operational knowledge and methodology required for this certification, both as regards its infrastructure and its services and processes.NetPlus processes over 200 million operations per year totaling 14 billion euros. It accepts all types of payment methods through a wide range of channels, integrating the information with the source systems, centralizing all payments, and managing all the associated operations.
Sequent Software and Trüb AG announced to have entered a technology partnership in which Trüb will use Sequent’s mobile payments platform to provide over-the-air provisioning and lifecycle-management services for EMV-compliant bank cards, customer loyalty cards, access cards and transit cards on secure elements used in NFC mobile devices. For example, using the Trüb SP-TSM service, bank card issuers and other service providers can instantly provision their cards into customers’ NFC mobile devices like Samsung Galaxy S4 operating on the Swisscom network. Using Sequent’s platform, the Trüb SP-TSM service offers a secure, over-the-air (OTA) channel for a broad set of card issuers to provision and manage the lifecycle of credit, prepaid, loyalty, reward, access, transit and other cards on the secure elements of mobile devices.
Gemalto digital security announced its UpTeq NFC SIM and AllynisTrusted Services Management (TSM) platform are at the core of Brazil’s first mobile NFC payment program. TIM Brasil, a mobile operator with 70 million subscribers, and Banco Itaú, one of the world’s largest banks, are using Gemalto’s technology to transform smartphones into convenient mobile payment solutions that enable secure, on-the-go transactions by simply waving the handset close to a contactless payment terminal. Gemalto’s TSM platform will enable the secure integration and management of NFC services across the country. Gemalto’s NFC SIM cards and TSM platform greatly simplify and speed up secure mobile transactions, keeping sensitive account data private while providing a value added service that increases customer satisfaction and loyalty for brands and banks.
CaixaBank, Gemalto, Telefónica and Visa Europe are set to deliver a payments application which will be offered to 3,500 delegates at Mobile World Congress on February 25-28th. The app, developed by Telefónica Digital, will allow delegates to make mobile contactless payments using a pre-paid card especially developed for mobile payments, which has been enabled to work with Visa’s contactless payment technology. The card is issued by MoneyToPay, the new subsidiary for the prepaid business created by CaixaBank.

VeriFone Systems has been selected by First Data Corporation as the exclusive provider of Class A Point-of-Sale (POS) payment acceptance systems in the Caribbean region. First Data is partnering with VeriFone to develop applications for VeriFone’s “Vx Solutions” and “VX Evolution” countertop, wireless and PIN entry systems. First Data intends to expand its product offering to include the most advanced payment system hardware and software technology throughout the region with a strong focus on security and authentication for Caribbean businesses.
MoneyGram remittance concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, launched a unique music album, “CRICKET FOR PEACE.” The “CRICKET FOR PEACE” album a popular Indian film music singer is the culmination of a three-month-long program from February – April 2011 during the ICC World Cup 2011. MoneyGram’s Cricket For Peace was a multi-country, multi-lingual initiative conducted in Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka and attracted compositions from more than 100 bands. Cricket For Peace was a theme-based music contest that linked cricket with world peace.
