The patent fight between Fiserv and FIS is over with no money changing hands. This week there was a resolution and dismissal of four patent infringement claims brought against FIS by Fiserv in 2012.
Among consumers that are currently in the market for a new credit card, 54% cite zero percent introductory rates as a feature that would prompt them to apply for a new credit card. Annual cash back rewards programs are cited by 50% of consumers, while 42% cite ID theft protection as a key motivator.

Paying local organizations, small businesses, and individuals is still largely done via paper checks. Already processing over $1 million in bill payments per day, Pageonce is far simpler and more convenient than writing a check. All that is required is the payee’s e-mail address or mobile phone number. Pageonce ultimately provides a mobile alterative for local billers to engage customers, reduce costs and more efficiently collect payments.

Fiserv announced that BB&T Corporation has selected its “Mobile Source Capture” service to quickly make smartphone-enabled check deposits available to its clients. BB&T also utilizes Fiserv’s “Branch Source Capture” to streamline the capture and balancing of check deposits at the back office, and “Merchant Source Capture” to enable the check deposits from its business customers. The integration of these solutions creates an environment in which duplicate deposits from a smartphone, scanner or other channel are easily detected.
