Merchant acquirer and payments technology and services provider for SMBs, TransFirst, owned by buyout firm Vista Equity Partners, has filed for an IPO. Shares to be listed on the Nasdaq under the symbol “TF” with an IPO size of $100 million.
TransFirst has inked a strategic sales partnership with PatientPay, an online practice management and payment technology for healthcare practices.

Cypress Semiconductor announced Ezetap mPOS solutions is using Cypress’s “CapSense Express” controllers in the world’s first capacitive-touch-based PIN-pad in its new MPOS device. The CY8CMBR2016 matrix keypad solution provides the Ezetap MPOS device with a durable user interface, helping it to pass all of the stringent EMVCo and PCI global certifications required for PIN entry devices. Consumer electronics and home appliances have rapidly been transitioning from mechanical buttons to capacitive touch controls. The EMV and PCI certifications are extremely strict due to the need to protect customer PINs against a broad range of attacks, while ensuring compatibility across a range of payment cards. Traditional POS devices continued to expand 3.9% in North America and 4.6% around the globe in 2012. With growth expected to continue at 3.6% worldwide for 2013, according to IHL Group research firm’s POS Vendor Shipments Database, the Asia/Pacific region led all regions in terms of growth, but even the economic challenges of most of the EMEA region did not completely squash growth, which came in at over 2% year over year. Additional findings show Microsoft operating systems run on over 87% of the POS terminals shipped and HP is now the second largest supplier of POS Systems worldwide, rising from the #20 position just 10 years ago. Meanwhile, the value of the North American POS Market topped $7.8 Billion for the first time in 2012.
Capario revenue cycle management solutions launched its integrated patient pay solution through its relationship with TransFirst transaction processing services and payment enabling technologies. Capario identified a need for a patient payment solution due to the difficulties providers face when determining a patient’s financial responsibility and collecting from patients at the time of service and once they leave the office. According to a recent report entitled “Perspectives on Patient Payments” by MGMA Connexion, 30 percent of patients leave the physician’s office without paying. For unpaid bills turned over to a collection agency, providers recover on average $15.77 for every $100 owed. Capario’s new patient pay solution allows providers to collect patient payments quickly through the Capario portal at check in and check out with credit card swipe technology; create paper or electronic statements to be sent to patients after insurance has paid; maintain a practice-branded patient payment portal where patients can easily view their statements and pay their balances online; and accept and post checks received in the mail using ACH check conversion.
