Fiserv released a white paper that offers financial institutions insight on how to develop a comprehensive enterprise mobile alerts platform to boost customer engagement and meet regulatory requirements related to customer notifications. Amazon.com announced that developers can now submit apps for distribution this summer in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Spain, with plans for further global expansion in the near future. Developers can get started by visiting the Amazon Mobile App Distribution Portal. The Amazon Appstore in the U.S. has grown to tens of thousands of apps and games in just one year. As a result of features like 1-Click purchasing and Test Drive (which allows customers to try apps before purchasing them), developers report strong monetization from the apps they offer through Amazon. Amazon recently introduced an In-App Purchasing service that is simple for developers to integrate and helps monetize their apps and games even better than before, while still offering customers a seamless and secure 1-Click purchasing experience. Many developers have seen revenue skyrocket as a result of Amazon In-App Purchasing and are excited to offer their apps to even more customers outside the United States.

The integration between debit card processing services from Fiserv and the Precision bank platform will bring real-time information to frontline employees. Namely, the Bank selected the “Precision bank” platform and outsourced account processing services, as well as Branch Source Capture and Merchant Source Capture for remote deposits, Business Analytics for enterprise-wide reporting functionality, CheckFree RXP for bill payment, “ZashPay” for person-to-person payments, Director for document imaging, Fiserv “Clearing Network” for image exchange and card services solutions for debit card processing. McDonald’s UK has signed a 5-year deal with Fujitsu for the provision of IT infrastructure support services to the company’s 1,200 restaurants in the UK and Republic of Ireland. This will ensure McDonald’s can deliver the right support capability into restaurants day-to-day, and help the company remain at the forefront of innovating its IT as it moves towards becoming a wider hospitality environment for families. Fujitsu will support the restaurant IT estate, from front of house tills and POS, to drive-thru ordering, restaurant bridge and back office. With this, Fujitsu is to focus on simplification and improved satisfaction; call prevention and reduction; and reduction in onsite engineering visits .
Canadians are conscientious about protecting their payment cards, while very few who use debit or credit cards share their PIN (14%), send credit card information by email (11%), or sharing information during a phone call that they did not initiate (5%). This is according to Visa, which is celebrating Fraud Prevention Month with a new website, www.visasecuritysense.ca, that provides cardholders and small businesses with helpful information and tips on how to protect payment card account information, avoid payment card scams and learn how to resolve unauthorized use of their cards.
China Unicom has installed HID Global’s “OMNIKEY 1021” desktop smart card readers at its stores in more than 20 provinces and cities across the country to simplify the SIM card issuance process and improved the efficiency of frontline customer service staff. The readers allow customer service staff to personalize a blank SIM card with a mobile number and other optional services on the spot. The readers have also eliminated mobile number configuration and hence reduced SIM card inventory levels. With this, HID Global has delivered 80,000 “OMNIKEY 1021” desktop smart card reader units to China Unicom.
