The Payments Council (15 July 2014) announces the appointment of three new independent directors to its Board. Sarah Chambers, Christine Farnish CBE and Robert Lerwill bring a wide range of experience in consumer policy, financial services and regulation to the Board. They join Clare Spottiswoode CBE as one of the Board’s four independent directors. Sarah is an expert in regulation, competition and consumer policy. Christine has wide experience of financial services, public policy and regulation. Robert Lerwill is a chartered accountant. The Payments Council Board is made up of 15 voting directors, a voting independent chairman and an observer from the Bank of England. In addition to the independents, 11 directors are appointed by the industry to represent a cross section of the Payments Council membership.

VoiceTrust digital payments and voice biometric solutions partnered Speed Remit Money Transfer. VoiceTrust is launching its remittance service in partnership with Speed Remit Money Transfer, allowing cardholders to remit money through 197 Speed Remit agent branches. Cardholders will receive discounted transfer fees by presenting their VoiceTrust/Speed Remit loyalty cards. VoiceTrust will simultaneously launch Cash Back for its payroll corporate customers. Cash Back will be earned on every remittance transaction completed by their employees, therefore helping the companies to reduce their monthly costs on the payroll card.
Advanced Payment Solutions (APS) Appointed Simon Knight as Non-Executive Director, to also serve as Non-Executive Director for AFL, regulated by the FSA as an Electronic Money Issuer and wholly own subsidiary of APS. Bringing with him 25 years experience in the consumer financial services industry in both the United Kingdom and internationally, Simon first became a Managing Director (of Private Label Mortgage Services Limited) in 1990. His career since includes CEO of GMAC-RFC Limited, a top ten UK residential mortgage lender, and of GMAC Rescap lending businesses in Latin America, Australia, and Europe.
