SumUp has integrated Bitcoin into its mPOS solution through BitPay. The integration means that any bricks and mortar retailer can now easily accept Bitcoin payments. With SumUp’s streamlined checkout process, the customer simply confirms the amount with a single click on their smartphone after scanning a QR code or using NFC broadcast. For merchants, accepting Bitcoin payments means that issues with fraud concerns or credit card chargebacks are erased from the equation. After having launched a proprietary Chip & PIN terminal in its major European markets, SumUp is now building an open network by accepting different alternative payment options, such as Bitcoin and soon to follow Apple Pay.
BitPay announced today that it has become a Demandware LINK Technology Partner. Demandware’s clients will now be able to easily add bitcoin as a form of payment thanks to BitPay’s development of a pre-built integration between its payment processing services and the Demandware Commerce platform.

The company’s more than 25 million registered customers can now pay for more than 10.5 million products including electronics, computers, game consoles and household items using bitcoin through BitPay. Newegg’s acceptance of bitcoin payments adds yet another convenient and secure way for its customers to fulfill their e-shopping needs.
ESPN Events has announced BitPay as the new title sponsor for the annual college football postseason game played in St. Petersburg (Fla.). Beginning with this year’s December 26 game, the bowl will now be known as the Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl. BitPay will serve as title sponsor for three years through the 2016 game.
BitPay named Tim Byun as its Chief Compliance Officer. Formerly the Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing Officer of Visa, Tim began his new role for BitPay at the Digital Banking Summit conference June 2 talking about The Digital Future. Byun previously served as Visa’s head of Global Credit Settlement Risk, leading anti-money laundering programs to maintain Visa’s compliance. Before joining Visa, he was an Examining Manager with the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s Division of Banking Supervision and Regulation for nine years. He earned his MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles and his Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Southern California.
