Mellon Technologies IT integrator deployed its large-scale contactless EMV project in conjunction with Eurobank. The first contactless credit cards now available to bank customers, the EMV project allows cardholders to pay for goods of up to EUR25 with no need to enter a PIN or sign the payment slip. The biggest advantage of contactless payments is the transaction speed -by simply holding a contactless-enabled card over a reader, without entering a pin or signing a slip. While a typical card payment needs approximately 12 seconds to conclude, the contactless payment takes less than a second. Mellon Technologies cooperated with Gemalto , which Mellon represented for over 15 years.
BPC Banking Technologies Open System e-payment solutions announced Interbanking Systems, Greece has implemented its “SmartSwitch” switching and routing solution within the SmartVista suite. The “SmartSwitch” legacy solution was selected after a competitive bid process including a number of other international software vendors and met DIAS’ demanding expectations for functionality, performance, scalability and low TCO. slightly from 4Q/07. However, net income fell 35% to $62 million. The

The National Bank of Greece has chosen Welcome’s
“XLS” solution to boost their “GO NATIONAL” payment card launch.
“GO NATIONAL” cardholders get instant cash back when they use
their card in the “GO NATIONAL” network of participating merchants. In
addition, the program will soon be enriched with merchant promotions
such as surprise gifts, frequent shopper offers and VIP Service
Vouchers. Welcome’s software combats fraud as well as fight commoditization, for essentially the same cost as fraud.
Polbank EFG is set to open 50 branches by year end, using systems developed by Card Tech Limited. The bank is now offering a VISA-branded card to its retail customers. Using PRIME’s “Installments” module, the bank has introduced the option for cardholders to pay for goods in interest-free installments. Athens-based Eurobank, the parent of Polbank EFG, has been a CTL client since 2002. It has used CTL’s
“PRIME” and “ONLINE” card management software to manage over one million cards. Eurobank currently accounts for 47% of the total card issuing market in Bulgaria and just under 40% in Romania.
EFG Eurobank Ergasias confirmed it is now in production with Fundtech’s “PAYplus” solution. The solution will enable Eurobank to consolidate payment systems, enhance payment automation, and increase payment volumes while reducing costs. The solution will serve as Eurobank’s central payment processing utility for both domestic and international payments. PAYplus connects Eurobank’s back office systems, various payment initiating departments, and over 400 of its branches to Greece’s national payment systems, DIAS and Hermes, as well as to the SWIFT, EBA, ERP and TARGET international payment mechanisms.
