CA-based MagTek announced the addition of “Tri-band” readers to the “IntelliStripe” family of card readers. “Tri-band” readers integrate magstripe, smartcard, and contactless technologies, allowing three distinct information bands or card data inputs in a single device that includes Magstripe, Smartcard that is EMV 4.0 certified and Contactless to include Mastercard PayPass, VISA Wave, MIFARE, American Express ExpressPay, and Discover Card. MagTek is a provider of electronic transaction technology.
MagTek has released a USB-compatible version of its “IntelliStripe 380” motorized card reader/writer. The new version supports both USB and RS-232 interfaces. The MagTek motorized IntelliStripe 380 is a competitively priced, attractive PC-based unit ideal for card issuers managing a small to moderate issuing flow of loyalty, access or identity cards for lodging, services, commercial, and institutional applications. MagTek has been a world leader in electronic transaction technology, from magnetic stripe card readers and writers, to MICR check readers and scanners, secure PIN issuance and cardholder verification systems.
Mag-Tek has earned the EMV ‘Level 1, Version 3.1.1’ certification, an interoperability standard for smart cards, that guarantees that any EMV-compliant smart card will be accepted by the ‘IntelliStripe 65’. ‘IntelliStripe 65’ is a modular, vandal-resistant, manual insertion reader that can be customized for unattended self-service applications such as pay phones, vending machines, ATMs and kiosks. The ‘IntelliStripe 65’ has an on-board microprocessor which supports the maximum allowable data transfer rate of 115Kbps, single on-board SAM, and an optional SAM Ranch which contains an additional six SAMs. This hybrid reader will read up to three tracks of the magstripe, will read and write ISO 7816, T=0 and T=1 microprocessor cards, as well as a wide range of memory cards.
Mag-Tek Inc. unveiled this week a new line of card readers required for applications where both mag stripe cards and smart cards are used. The ‘IntelliStripe 60’ and ‘IntellStripe 65’ lines of vandal-resistant, hybrid card readers are utilized in unattended self-service applications such as pay phones, vending machines, ATMs and kiosks. The ‘IntelliStripe 60 and 65’ are modular in design enabling full customization. Options include: triple track magnetic card reading, eight or 16 contacts for smart cards, security gate, card latch/lock, fraud/wire detection system, power fail card release system and various mounting and bezel configurations. Both of these readers are durable in design and will provide a minimum of 1 million operations. The ‘IntelliStripe 60’ has very low power consumption and can be placed in a sleep mode when not in use. The reader can operate at 3 or 5 volts. The ‘IntelliStripe 65’ has an on-board microprocessor. The on-board microprocessor supports the maximum allowable data transfer rate of 115kbs.
