MasterCard, WebMoney Corporation and Credit Saison launched the WebMoneyCard MasterCard-branded prepaid card. The WebMoneyCard can be used both online and at physical merchants that accept WebMoney or MasterCard payment cards. With the WebMoneyCard, cardholders can make payments at approximately 38.1 million MasterCard acceptance locations in more than 210 countries worldwide. The card can be used for diverse everyday purchases, ranging from apps to payment at restaurants, cafes and convenience stores. WebMoneyCard, which is obtainable without credit evaluation, ensures that cardholders can shop with ease, knowing that their spending will always remain within pre-loaded amounts.

JCB continues to press on to reach the 200 countries and territories milestone this year with its Card Acceptance Network. The latest is its expansion into Belgium via Worldline. JCB International (JCBI) has formally signed a License Agreement with Atos’ Worldline for building a JCB card acceptance network and to start JCB merchant acquiring operations in Belgium.
The only payment card brand based in Japan is bringing a new middle market credit card to Vietnam. The new JCB Dreamcard is geared towards moderate income customers of Ho Chi Minh City-based Vietnam Techcombank. The co-branded credit card is being offered to customers with an average monthly income from 4 million VND (Vietnamese Dong) or US$188. Techcombank Dreamcard cardholders will receive a credit limit of up to 2 months salary with this card. The minimum repayment amount starts from 10% of outstanding balance.
MasterCard partnered KDDI mobile operator to launch “au WALLET” prepaid card program for 34 million au-brand mobile network subscribers beginning May 21. The au WALLET card will enable KDDI’s “au” mobile network subscribers to enjoy safer, easier, and more rewarding payment options at any merchant that accepts MasterCard payment cards, either offline or online, in more than 210 countries. In particular, cardholders will be able to shop with ease, assured that their expenditure will remain within the pre-loaded amounts. The au WALLET card will be easily obtainable without any credit evaluation and can be reloaded at au shops or online. Cardholders will receive au WALLET Points for every purchase made with the card, redeemed when paying au phone bills or making other shopping payments.

i2c, Inc., a provider of payment processing and emerging commerce solutions, announced that it is continuing to experience strong worldwide sales momentum in Fiscal Year (FY) 2014, which ends June 30. i2c is also seeing substantial growth from its existing client base, as both prepaid platform transactions and total accounts supported are up more than 50% from a year ago. American Express (AmEx) reported first quarter (Q1) billed business for the Japan, Asia Pacific & Australia (JAPA) region increased 6% year-on-year (Y/Y). In Latin America and Canada (LACC) region billed business declined 1% while the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region rose 11%. Overall, the international card billed business rose 2% to $31.9 billion in Q1.
Clipix announces the integration of its technology with one of Japan’s leading credit card issuers, Credit Saison Co., and with its wholly-owned shopping loyalty/reward platform Eikyufumetsu. Eikyufumetsu’s 25+ million members will have a simple and user-friendly way to store and organize all the items that they may want to purchase in the future on to Clipix’s clipboards system by “clipping” items from Eikyufumetsu’s vast network of participating retailers. Discover partnered with the National Hockey League (NHL®) today to surprise members of the Midshipmen with the Stanley Cup®, the most revered trophy in professional sports. The Midshipmen, who finished this season at 29-7-2 and ranked eighth nationally, were treated to a celebratory reception this afternoon at McMullen Arena in the Brigade Sports Complex. Navy hockey team members, who were holding an informal scrimmage at the arena, were treated to a surprise visit from the Stanley Cup. The surprise did not end there, as players from the Navy Youth Hockey league, along with their families, were invited to the arena to join the celebration where pizza and beverages were served and the Navy youth hockey players had the chance to skate with some of the Midshipmen players. Unbeknownst to them, they too would be getting a visit with the Stanley Cup.
