Cowboy Boot Breach

Frisco, TX-based Sheplers, a top multi-channel western-wear retailer specializing in cowboy boots has been hacked. The Company says the breach potentially impacts customers who used payment cards at Sheplers’ retail locations between June 11, and September 4. However, Sheplers does not believe the incident affected its online webstore.

Heartland Acquiring TouchNet

Heartland Payment Systems announced today that it has entered into an agreement to acquire TouchNet Information Systems, Inc., an integrated commerce solutions provider to higher-education institutions. TouchNet adds over 600 higher education clients serving over six million students – nearly one-third of the higher-education enrollment in the United States – to Heartland’s Campus Solutions business. Heartland Payment Systems, Inc., the fifth largest payments processor in the United States, delivers credit/debit/prepaid card processing, mobile commerce, e-commerce, marketing solutions, security technology, payroll solutions, and related business solutions and services to more than 275,000 business and educational locations nationwide.

TSYS Appoints NetSpend VP

Chuck Harris has been named senior executive vice president of TSYS and will continue to serve as president of NetSpend. Harris joined NetSpend as president in July, 2010, with responsibility for the partner, direct and corporate paycard lines of business, as well as the company’s products, technology and operations. Harris joined NetSpend from Intuit where he had served as general manager of the company’s payment solutions division. Prior to Intuit, he served as chief executive officer, president and chief operating officer of Electronic Clearing House (ECHO), an electronic payment solutions provider that was acquired by Intuit in 2007. Earlier in his career, Harris also served with Paymentech and its Merchant Link subsidiary.

RewardsNOW To Provide Loyalty and Merchant Funded Rewards Program

RewardsNOW loyalty programs for financial institutions announced Data Center (DCI) has partnered to provide loyalty and merchant funded rewards program services to its financial institution clients. DCI provides core processing software and related technologies for hundreds of community banks nationwide. RewardsNOW will provide DCI’s community bank clients with a fully comprehensive, enterprise-wide loyalty program consisting of a customized program website and access to RewardsNOW’s merchant funded rewards platform, including its local merchant funded shopping program, Shop Main Street; a merchant discount coupon program; and an integrated mobile application.
