TSYS announced it has upgraded to its PRIME 4 card management solution for C. Hoare & Co independent private bank. This will support the bank’s Visa credit and debit card portfolios C. Hoare & Co. is one of the financial institutions across 70 countries that license TSYS PRIME issuer or acquirer solutions. The bank has been a TSYS client since 1992 and upgraded from an earlier version of the platform in order to take advantage of PRIME 4’s future-proof architecture, integrated workflows, increased automation and richer functionality.
TSYS announced that it has further extended its relationship with KBC Bank Ireland (KBC), to support the bank’s credit card launch in the Irish market. TSYS currently provides debit payment services for KBC. KBC has been operating in Ireland for 40 years and is part of KBC Bank NV, one of Europe’s largest banks. KBC provides business and personal banking services to customers in Ireland.

TSYS announced the publication of a white paper titled “Implementing a Successful Commercial Card Program in Turkey ” Avoiding Pitfalls: Lessons from the U.S. Experience.” The paper outlines the market opportunity and key drivers for commercial card growth in Turkey, drawing on experiences in the U.S. commercial card market to provide insights on accelerating card penetration. Noting key metrics that demonstrate the significant past growth and future potential of commercial cards in Turkey, the paper articulates three core benefits ” reduced costs, improved cash flow and reduced risk of non-payment ” of increasing commercial card usage for both issuers and their corporate clients. The paper further identifies three key insights for use in penetrating and developing the commercial card market in Turkey: understanding the opportunities and challenges of introducing commercial products, identifying the market opportunity by card type and exploring the importance of developing solutions specific to organization types.
TSYS renewed its payments agreement with Nationwide Building Society, a major provider of credit cards to 15 million members, for undisclosed terms. With this, TSYS will continue to process Nationwide’s UK consumer card portfolio, as well as supporting all of its contact centre operations. Nationwide has utilised TSYS’ outsourced payments processing solution, TS2, since 2008. Nationwide was awarded ‘Best Achievement in Customer Service’ at The Card & Payments Awards 2013 for their ‘Listening to Customers Campaign,’ which was undertaken with the assistance of TSYS Managed Services EMEA.
Chad Borton has been appointed senior VP, head of Retail Banking for the Company with Fifth Third. Borton comes to Fifth Third from JP Morgan Chase where he held a number of senior management positions including Consumer Bank CFO, head of the Retail Distribution Network responsible for expanding Chase’s branch and ATM network nationally and Retail Market Manager for Chase’s branch network in several Ohio markets. Most recently he served as head of Branch Administration where he was responsible for managing more than 1,000 employees in the delivery of branch operational support for 5,500 retail branches. Borton will report directly to Steven Alonso.
The PCI SSC announced plans to train and certify payment software integrators and resellers on the secure installation and maintenance of validated PA-DSS applications into merchant environments to support PCI DSS compliance. The PCI Qualified Integrators and Resellers (QIR) program is set to be rolled out over the coming months, with training set to begin in late summer and a global list of PCI Qualified Integrators and Resellers to be available later this year. This after Trustwave research indicated 76% of the breaches investigated in 2011 were a result of security vulnerabilities introduced by a third party responsible for system support, development and/or maintenance of business environments.
Two TSYS executives have been chosen to participate in the Commercial Payments International Global Cards and Payments Summit 2012, March 21-22. Kelley Knutson, executive vice president, TSYS International Services, will present in a session entitled, “Going Global ” Leveraging Your Supplier for Portfolio Growth.” He will be discussing the global industry make-up, and trending both from a value proposition and underlying needs of the market. Knutson will discuss issues that keep issuers awake at night as they explore global expansion, as well as looking at what commercial service will look like globally as the industry moves forward.
TSYS announced Tinkoff. Credit Systems Bank (TCS) has upgraded to its “PRIME 4” card and merchant management solution. TCS already introduced a credit card monoline business using the PRIME platform to launch 1.7 million credit cards in less than four years. It will now use PRIME 4 to manage the issuance of its MasterCard-branded Tinkoff Platinum credit card. It provides a scalable, single platform licensing solution for both card issuing and merchant acquiring and integrates real-time online authorisation and switching, ATM management, fraud detection and risk management tools.
