Citi ThankYou Rewards members can use their ThankYou Points – and their ThankYou enrolled consumer checking account – to pay bills online.
Responding to the needs of its growing multinational customer base, Wells Fargo & Company (WFC) announced it has expanded its commercial card portfolio to Europe by offering the European Commercial Card, where commercial card transactions in pound sterling or euros will now be easier to process, track, and report. Supported by MasterCard, one of Wells Fargo’s longtime credit card partners in the United States, the Wells Fargo European Commercial Card can be used in 37 million outlets worldwide. The European Commercial Card solution balances enhanced controls and local, regional, and global management oversight with international traveler convenience through a global card expense reporting tool via Wells Fargo’s Commercial Electronic Office® (CEO®) portal. This tool permits company financial officers and their employees the ability to monitor commercial card transactions, such as travel expenditures (e.g. airfare, hotel, rail), use data for local, regional or global strategic sourcing opportunities, and maintain visibility over expenses.
GE Capital Retail Bank announced a long-term extension of its agreement with American Eagle Outfitters to continue providing private label credit card programs for online, mobile app, and store purchases made at any of the 856 American Eagle Outfitter and 115 Aerie locations across the U.S. As part of the seven-year agreement, GE Capital’s Retail Finance business will continue to manage the American Eagle Outfitters credit card program, which began in 1996. Customers can use their American Eagle Outfitters® and Aerie® credit cards at 856 American Eagle Outfitter and 115 Aerie stores in the U.S. Cardholders can earn a 15% new account discount, $10 Extra Savings coupons, and access to four exclusive cardholder events a year. In addition, cardholders can also earn AERewards program discounts.
Vodafone and Visa launched the Vodafone Wallet and Visa SmartPass service. The agreements increase the reach of V.me by Visa and as a result, Visa expects many more retailers to have access to V.me and be capable of processing transactions by the end of 2014. SmartPass is the first service to offer consumers in the Netherlands the chance to make secure, easy contactless payments using their mobile phone. The service will work on any contactless payment terminal in Europe that displays the V PAY logo. Users will also be able to transfer money to each other’s SmartPass accounts using the service. The Vodafone SmartPass payment service has been developed with Visa and is based on a prepaid Visa solution. For transactions under €25, customers can pay easily and conveniently by simply touching their mobile phone to a contactless terminal showing the V PAY logo. For transactions over €25 the customer will be invited to enter a passcode to verify their purchase.
Citi ThankYou Rewards members have two new ways to use their Citi ThankYou Points for an account credit to cover a recent purchase, or to make a donation to charity. With ThankYou Select and Credit, available ThankYou Points can be used to cover purchases in certain categories made with an eligible consumer Citi credit card that participates in ThankYou Rewards. ThankYou members can also use their available points to make a donation to a wide variety of charitable organizations on www.thankyou.com/pointworthy. ThankYou members can use their points to receive a statement credit to cover those eligible purchases made during their current credit card billing cycle on Citi Account Online. Donate with Points is a new ThankYou Rewards feature that lets ThankYou members use their available ThankYou Points to make a donation to a wide variety of charitable organizations.
Fiserv announced that its Mobiliti solution received the highest score for a customizable solution in the Javelin Strategy & Research 2013-2014 Mobile Banking Vendor Scorecard. Based on an evaluation of security, mobile platform support, product features and emerging capabilities, this marks the third year that Fiserv has been a top ranked mobile banking solution provider in the report. Fiserv was rated highly across all four areas of evaluation for customizable solutions, particularly the features category. The features category analyzed money monitoring and advanced money movement capabilities available through the solution, as well as user ratings, reviews, partnerships and clients. The Javelin report noted that adoption of mobile banking continues to grow rapidly, as does its importance to consumers, which underscores the value of selecting a leading mobile banking provider. In a positive sign, only 31 percent of non-mobile bankers said they were skeptical of mobile banking’s value, down from 40 percent in 2012.
Fundtech global transaction banking solutions deployed Federal Reserve’s FedGlobal(R)ACH Payments as a part of Fundtech’s ACH solutions. Fundtech provides customers with access to the Federal Reserve Bank’s disclosure capabilities for International ACH Transactions (IAT). Financial institutions face challenges in complying with Regulation E of Section 1073 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Protection Act. The FedGlobal ACH Payments service facilitates disclosure requirements and error resolution for financial institutions involved in the outbound, cross-border transfer of funds. This service complements Fundtech’s ACH solutions which automate ACH processes and provide ACH processor connectivity.
Citi is introducing its ThankYou Rewards, allowing members to turn online purchased items to their own personal reward. ThankYou Rewards members can now shop with a Rewards Account Number, a virtual credit card account number linked to their Citi credit card and ThankYou Rewards account, where MasterCard® and Visa® are accepted. Rewards Account Numbers give Citi ThankYou Rewards members who have a credit card enrolled in ThankYou Rewards flexibility to use their ThankYou Points when shopping online.
NCR announced First Data certified NCR APTRA Interactive Teller for its network allowing First Data FI ATM clients to use the solution for standard ATM transaction processing. APTRA Interactive Teller gives a live teller remote control of an ATM to conduct two way audio/video transactions with customers. The efficiency and security created through the centralization of tellers enables financial institutions to transform their branch locations into more effective service and sales environments. APTRA Interactive Teller lets financial institutions offer access to teller services during non-traditional banking hours, build new small-footprint branches, and provide full teller services in areas not served by branches, all while taking advantage of the advanced features of NCR ATMs such as deposit automation, bill pay and new account and loan initiation.
Square appointed David Viniar to its Board of Directors, where he will also serve as Audit Committee Chairman. Viniar was most recently Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Goldman Sachs, and is currently a member of its Board of Directors. After receiving a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School, Viniar joined Goldman Sachs in 1980, where he amassed over 30 years of experience. He became the CFO in 1999 and served in that capacity for over 13 years. He was also the head of the Operations, Technology, Finance and Services Division. Viniar is a former Trustee of Union College, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree.
