The Nokia smartphone utilizes the INSIDE Secure MicroRead® v3.4 NFC controller and Open NFC protocol stack software to provide NFC capabilities for a broad range of useful and entertaining applications. INSIDE Secure semiconductor solutions for secure transactions and digital identity is integrating its NFC solutions into a next-generation smartphone from a mobile phone manufacturer, launching mid-year. This will run on one of the most widely used mobile operating systems under license, and will utilize the INSIDE MicroRead NFC controller chip and INSIDE Open NFC protocol stack software to deliver a rich set of NFC capabilities to support a broad range of NFC applications. This will make it possible for people to use their mobile phones to pay when they shop or take public transit.
Inside Secure semiconductor solutions for secure transactions and digital identity entered into an agreement with Intel Corporation to provide the company with Inside’s NFC products and technologies. This gives Intel access to INSIDE’s software, firmware and core hardware technology for development of future Intel products. In addition, INSIDE will provide Intel’s Mobile Wireless Group with access to scalable NFC solutions based on INSIDE’s MicroRead(R), SecuRead(R) and Open NFC(TM) products. A third-generation product that sets a new standard for ease of integration, the MicroRead NFC controller offers a broad range of NFC options and provides the capacity to support multiple secure element types, including SIM, SE or SD card, to support multiple business models.
CorFire, the industry-leading mobile commerce business of SK C&C USA, and Inside Secure, a leader in semiconductor solutions for secure transactions and digital identity, announced an agreement that promises to accelerate the rollout of NFC applications by ensuring that INSIDE Secure’s portfolio of MicroRead and SecuRead NFC solutions, as well as its Open NFC protocol stack, are interoperable with “CorTSM,” CorFire’s trusted service manager (TSM) solution. INSIDE Secure’s award-winning MicroRead NFC controller offers the broadest range of NFC options and provides the capacity to implement any secure element, including SIM or SD card, to support any business model. The INSIDE Secure SecuRead solution integrates the MicroRead NFC controller with a high-performance secure element and a GlobalPlatform-compliant Java Card(TM) operating system.
Inside Secure semiconductor solutions for secure transactions has expanded its partnership with ZTE Corporation to integrate Inside’s NFC technology into ZTE’s GSM and next-generation TD-SCDMA smartphone platform, which is based on the Android OS. The NFC solution INSIDE and ZTE is based on the INSIDE “MicroRead” NFC controller and the companion “Open NFC” protocol stack. It will enable consumers in China and elsewhere to use ZTE 3G smartphones for a broad range of secure NFC applications, including payments, transportation, loyalty, ticketing and access control.
HID Global ID security and INSIDE Contactless open-standard contactless chip technologies have inked agreements to introduce the “iCLASS” access control and ID credentials for NFC mobile phones. Delivered on the HID Global “Trusted Identity Platform” system, the “iCLASS” virtual credentials for NFC mobile phones allows for the substitution of numerous plastic cards for a variety of commercial and consumer identity applications. This pertains to physical access control, secure PC log on, time and attendance monitoring, equipment and material checkout, authorized access to office equipment and manufacturing machinery, private label retail payments, prepaid transit passes, and customer loyalty and membership programs. INSIDE is in the process of updating its microread NFC controller to implement the command set and protocol that will allow it to communicate with HID iCLASS readers, and iCLASS support will be a feature of all the companyâs future NFC products.

About the size of an ordinary credit card, the “TazCard” Java-based handheld device is capable of supporting a variety of NFC applications and has been facilitated with INSIDEâs Java-based test payment application. This all on a Single Wire Protocol (SWP)-enabled SIM card developed by Sagem Orga, which is connected to the INSIDE MicroRead NFC controller built into the TazCard. The TazCard also utilizes INSIDEâs Open NFC⢠protocol stack. With its 3.5-inch color touch screen, the TazCard is able to provide the user with a full NFC experience for payment and other NFC transactions. INSIDEâs third-generation MicroRead NFC chip provides the most mature NFC implementation.

handset. INSIDEâs core NFC offerings, the “MicroRead” NFC
controller chip, the “Open NFC” protocol stack and the “Wave-Me” handset
client software are working together to enhance the user experience
for the “Cosyphone.” Aimed at the over 50âs market, the “Cosyphone” enables users to make
calls, send text messages or access data services such as weather or
traffic information simply by waving the phone near an NFC tag or smart
poster without having to navigate through more cumbersome menus.
With INSIDEâs Wave-Me technology in the “Cosyphone,” waving the device
at a poster automatically simulates a complex series
of keystrokes, eliminating awkward, time-consuming, multi-keystroke
chores.
