The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), the Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority of Saskatchewan (FCAA), Financial and Consumer Service Commission of New Brunswick (FCNB), the Manitoba Securities Commission (MSC) and the Nova Scotia Securities Commission (NSSC) published for comment the Integrated Crowdfunding Prospectus Exemption (the Crowdfunding Exemption) and the Start-Up Crowdfunding Prospectus and Registration Exemption (the Start-Up Exemption). The proposed exemptions would, subject to certain conditions, allow both reporting and non-reporting issuers to raise money by distributing securities through internet portals. The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is also publishing the Crowdfunding Exemption for comment by way of a local notice and the British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC) is also concurrently publishing a local notice soliciting comments on the Start-Up Exemption.
Mercury Payment service appointed Andrew Patterson Chief Technology Officer. Here he will be responsible for software engineering, technology infrastructure, business intelligence, quality assurance, and architecture for the organization. With over a decade of technology and management experience, Patterson brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role as CTO at Mercury. Patterson most recently served as the vice president of payments software and emerging products for Moneris Solutions where he led a number of key technology initiatives, including the design and development of many of their products and processing systems. He was also the director of software development at the same company. He holds a B.S. from Dalhousie University and an MBA from Queen’s University.

MoneyGram is now facilitating money transfer and remittance in Bosnia and Herzegovina through its partnership with Nova Bank. Under the agreement, Nova Bank customers are now able to send and receive international money transfers at more than 40 Nova Bank locations across rural and urban Bosnia through MoneyGram’s global network. The World Bank estimates Bosnia has the 12th-highest proportion of its population living abroad, with more than 1 million Bosnian citizens living and working outside Bosnia.
