The laminating film is specifically designed to adhere to standard PVC stocks used on many print engines in the card industry. Only one operator is needed to
oversee the process due to the ease in which printed PVC sheets can be
placed into a high-speed laminating system that feeds directly into an
in-line cutter. In partnership with Spartanics, D&K Group has developed

Retail Banking Research has found that ATM use and deployment is up in
Central and Eastern Europe. The number of ATMs deployed is fast
approaching 90,000 with the most growth in Russia and the Ukraine.
Among these new ATMs, 59% are installed off-site, reflect an average
withdrawal of 90 euro, and nearly 25% utilize outsourced cash
replenishment. Findings also include that the most common manufacturer
of ATMs is NCR with 44% of the market share, followed by Wincor Nixdorf
with 30% of the market. Among operating systems, 71% use Windows XP,
replacing the NT operating system as the preferred system. RBR is a
research and consulting firm with nearly 30 years experience in retail
banking automation and payment systems.
A new research report has found there were 14,295 new ATM installations in western Europe last year to bring the total number of ATMs to 342,495. The U.K. remains the largest market with 60,642 ATMs. Spain, which had the leading position in 2003, is in second place with 57,989 machines, followed by Germany with 53,630 units. The Retail Banking Research study also discovered that the Turkish market recorded the fastest rate of growth in 2006 at 11%, the only country to experience double digit growth. RBR says that for the first time there are more ATMs located off-site than in lobbies. About 29% of ATMs are located off-site in western Europe. Almost 11.9 billion cash withdrawals were made at western European ATMs in 2006, an increase of 1.7% over the 2005 figure. Average usage fell for the fifth consecutive year to stand at 2,888 withdrawals per machine per month. NCR remains the largest ATM manufacturer in western Europe with a 46% market share. It is represented in every country surveyed except Luxembourg. RBR found that two thirds of ATMs use a “Windows” operating system. “Windows NT” continues to lead but its market share fell by six percentage points in 2006 to 32%. Several deployers migrated to “Windows XP,” which saw its market share double from 15% to 30% during 2006.

Paris-based LCL has implemented the Nexus “SoftwareDeveloper” and “Self-Service” versions of the “INvolve” middleware in order to port and upgrade its automated teller machine software solution. Nexus provided LCL with migration services that accelerated integration of the application into the open-standard “INvolve” middleware. LCL’s existing self-service ATM software solution was based on a LCL proprietary application specific to each manufacturer and implemented on
the DOS and Windows NT operating systems. The “INvolve” family of cross-channel client middleware can be used in either single or multiple channel solution architectures to connect financial services solutions to multiple and varied sets of more than 300 banking-specific devices used with branch teller workstations, kiosks and ATMs.
WA-based TrueActive is testing an application that provides real-time credit card number detection on a PC. Using a validation algorithm and operating completely in the open with user knowledge, “TrueActive CardAlert” scans keyboard activity and the Windows clipboard to detect numeric combinations that can be validated as a credit card number. When a match is found, TACA saves only the last four digits to an encrypted file and alerts the user. The credit card number is only evaluated and never stored in full by the application. Only the last four digits are retained for detection and reporting. The application is available free and will cease working on December 31st.
