CHINA UNION-PAY 2013

China UnionPay, the national bankcard association in China, reached a number of milestones in 2013 and is now accepted in more than 140 countries and regions and covering more than 10 million POS terminals and 1.1 million ATMs outside of China. Over 24 million UnionPay cards have been issued in about 30 overseas markets. Among major developments last year: The first UnionPay card was issued in Africa; the first time UnionPay has come into cooperation with an international tourism retail group; the first UnionPay credit card is issued in North America; the first time that CUP has cooperated with a local institution in Nigeria to expand the acceptance of UnionPay cards on a large scale; the first UnionPay debit card issued in Australia; and the first UnionPay travel card outside China is issued in Singapore.

MoneyGram Launches Payout Service in China

MoneyGram money transfer announced customers in China can now cash out money transfers from Australia in Australian dollars at any Bank of China (BOC), CITIC Bank or Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) branch location. The addition of Australian payout service, available at all 9,755 BOC; 1,858 ICBC; and 450 CITIC Bank branch locations offering MoneyGram services, are offered free of currency exchange fees for Australian customers sending money to friends and family in China since the transactions involve Australian dollars at both the sending and receiving location. For customers in Australia, MoneyGram is currently offering a $16 Australian dollar flat fee for any amount up to $10,000 US dollars from now until January 2, 2013.

PrepaYd Wireless Teams Emida for Prepaid Distribution

Trustwave Joins Non Profit Application Security Forum

OKI & RENESAS

OKI Data and Renesas Technology have signed agreements for the
acquisition of the Gunma Development Design and Device Division of
Renesas Eastern Japan Semiconductor front-end process line. OKI Data
plans to double current LED printer sales by FY2011 by increasing the
scale of its LED production operations in transferring to the new
Renesas facility by April of 2010 and completing procedures by November
30, 2009. Additionally, the new clean room is twice the size of the one
currently in use to increase production line efficiency fourfold and is
in close proximity to OKI’s Takasaki facility printer development,
shortening product development time even further. OKI Data has
representation in 120 countries worldwide and had an annual turnover for
FY07 of 187.9 billion yen while Japan-based Renesas Technology
microcontrollers achieved consolidated revenue of 702.7 billion JPY for
FY2008 (end of March 2009) with sales operations in 16 countries.

HSBC & VASCO

have partnered to deploy integrated m-banking services for retail
customers thanks to the VASCO “DIGIPASS for Mobile”. Requiring no
additional device hardware, the “DIGIPASS for Mobile” solution allows
HSBC Bank Brazil to offer customers the fully integrated virtual
m-banking services for typical banking services, including transactions
and payments. Using a one time password generator, verified by VACMAN
authentication software using the customer’s social security number, the
solution allows financial institutions to quickly institute m-banking
services. HSBC Group is present in 86 countries while the HSBC Direct
virtual bank allows customers to select channels most convenient to
them. VASCO Internet Security provides its services to 8,500 companies
in more than 100 countries.

exponentially
every quadrennial, providing MasterCard with increased opportunity for

Inc and PETNET Inc. In addition, WU has signed remittance agreements with
3 new agents including Direct Agent 5 Inc., JP Tambunting pawnshops and
EMCOR Incorporated. The Philippines is the fourth largest receiver of
remittances in the world with projections to reach over $14 billion by 2008
with over 8 million Filipino workers abroad. Western Union has over 312,000
Agent locations in over 200 countries and territories around the world.
