Atlanta-based small business loans purveyor Kabbage has teamed with MasterCard to offer businesses the ability to pay for items at the point of sale (POS) with a purchasing card. Kabbage offers up to $100,000 in funding for a 1% to 12% payback over the first two months, 1% thereafter.
American Express (AmEx) reported first quarter (Q1) billed business for the Japan, Asia Pacific & Australia (JAPA) region increased 6% year-on-year (Y/Y). In Latin America and Canada (LACC) region billed business declined 1% while the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region rose 11%. Overall, the international card billed business rose 2% to $31.9 billion in Q1.

Linked to a PayPal account, the card gives users full access to its online functionality and features. Issued by The Bancorp Bank, offline the card can be used to withdraw cash from ATMs while money can be loaded onto the card through direct deposit or at more than 100,000 reload locations throughout the U.S. The PayPal prepaid card is competitively priced and offers many features including online Payback Rewards, an optional savings account, real-time account alerts via text message* and online budgeting tools.
American Express is set to acquire Loyalty Partner marketing services with the intention of expanding merchant relationships in international markets for US $660 million. The payment agreement is structured with an upfront cash purchase price of $566 million and an additional $94 million equity interest. Best known for the loyalty program it operates in Germany, Poland and India, Loyalty Partner also provides market analysis, operating platforms and consulting services that help merchants grow their businesses. This transaction will add more than 34 million consumers to the American Express international customer base, thus expanding its range of rewards and loyalty marketing services around the world. Loyalty Partner will become a subsidiary of American Express and will be part of the company’s International Consumer and Small Business Services group.
