Gemalto partners STMicroelectronics for secure NFC

STMicroelectronics secure microcontroller ICs and Gemalto digital security have partnered to develop a range of solutions to initiate and distribute digital security services for NFC (Near Field Communications) applications. Building on the two companies’ extensive security expertise and portfolio of NFC technologies, the partnership aims to deliver solutions that will meet the strong global demand for NFC-based services. They plan to further develop a number of additional packaged offers that include the highly secure ST33 EAL5+ chipset from ST, specially designed for mobile applications, and Gemalto’s secure operating system, mobile handset software, Trusted Service Management and secure personalization services.

T8 Webware Launches New Personalization Features

SCM Microsystems Delivers China Unicom Smart Card Readers

SCM Microsystems solutions for secure access, secure identity and secure exchange and a business unit of Identive Group announced its second delivery of high speed “SCR3310v2” reader/writers to China Unicom mobile service. China Unicom has deployed more than 90,000 SCM reader/writers to facilitate SIM card issuance to its mobile phone customers across China and is using the SCM reader/writers in point of sales kiosks, stores and retail shops to quickly personalize a SIM phone card for each subscriber on the spot. Responding to the increasing demand for instant personalization of SIM cards at issuance, China Unicom has recently expanded its RPS (remote personalization system) program to its partners’ retail shops and point of sales, which are now also enabled with SCM readers.

ASCC Deploys Datacard Card Personalization

The Asia Smart Cards Centre (ASCC) has deployed the Datacard “MPR5800” card personalization and production system. Having personalized more than 30 million cards over the last 10 years for Malaysia’s financial institutions, ASCC provides smart card personalization for Malaysia’s Payment Multipurpose Card (PMPC). The Company deployed “MPR5800” personalization solution to fulfill the growing demands of future requirements. The system is designed to personalize up to 6,000 financial cards per hour. For bureaus producing high volumes of GSM cards, the MPR5800 system enables the personalization of SIM cards at a low cost-per-card.

HID Global Delivers Gift Card Issuance Project

HID Global has introduced a pilot digital gift card issuance project at two Korean-based Home plus and Shinsegae E-mart with its “FARGO HDP5000” high-definition printer/encoders. With the HDP5000, the two retailers can now brand and customize gift cards for corporate customers and individuals, adding a level of personalization not available with conventional paper gift vouchers. The digital issuance of cards enables individuals and companies to create custom card designs using their own images, logos, personalized messages and other branding on the card.

Bangor Savings Bank Deploys Datacard Software

Bangor Savings Bank has implemented the Datacard “CardWizard” secure ID and card personalization solutions software for instant-issue MasterCard debit cards. This lets new bank customers become cardholders within hours after leaving the branch with their new debit card. Bangor Savings Bank is working with Datacard Group on a three-phase implementation that will consist of rolling out the “CardWizard” software to all 55 of its branch locations throughout Maine by mid-year 2011.
