Powa Technologies announced the integration of intelligentpos, the iPad based point-of-sale app with its PowaPOS retail payments platform. The partnership between these two companies will accelerate availability of advanced, all-in-one tablet-based POS solutions for retail and hospitality companies in the UK as well as internationally.
GPN’s OpenEdge division and New West Technologies (NWT) have agreed to integrate Microsoft Dynamics AX with payment processing for multi-location retail operations.
TSYS Merchant Solutions announced its partnership with Navy Federal Credit Union designed to provide Navy Federal’s merchant members with the ability to accept credit and debit cards as payments for their goods and services. TSYS Merchant Solutions, a wholly owned affiliate of TSYS (TSS), is ranked as the seventh largest merchant acquirer in the U.S. by number of active merchant outlets according to The Nilson Report. Navy Federal members will now have access to world-class payment acceptance and marketing solutions, including competitive comparison dashboards, mobile, tablet, e-commerce and retail point-of- sale solutions, along with 24/7 customer and technical support.
UK consumers’ preference for electronic payments continued to increase in 2013 as Visa Europe announces that spending with UK Visa credit, debit, commercial and prepaid cards increased by 9.2% to £445bn. This is according to Visa Europe’s annual results for the year to 30th September 2013. Spending by UK cardholders with Visa debit increased by 9.3% on the previous year. Debit payments account for over 80% of Visa Europe’s business in the UK. More than £1 in every £3 spent in the UK is now spent using Visa. Growth was also strong in other core areas of the Visa Europe business, with spending on commercial cards increasing by 18.1% and on prepaid cards by 42.8%.
Novo Dia Group, a software development firm specialized in the health and human services industry, announced that 325 iPod touch devices with the Mobile Market+ point-of sale (POS) application have been deployed at 26 farmers markets in Michigan, enabling participating vendors to accept several types of benefits cards, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Women, Infants and Children (WIC), Electronic Benefits Transfer Cash Value Benefits (WIC EBT CVB), Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP), and Summer EBT for Children (SEBTC). Additionally, vendors can process debit and credit card transactions with the same device, providing even more sales opportunities with no extra hardware investment. This effort is part of an initiative, making fresh produce, from farmers markets, more readily available to low-income families.
Ingenico payment devices and services and The Phoenix Group (TPG) POS terminals and solutions forged a multi-year distribution agreement, enabling TPG to market and sell Ingenico’s next generation Telium series POS devices to independent sales organizations (ISOs). Emerging EMV chip-based, contactless, and NFC-based payments means both companies are making a strategic investment to offer the latest Telium POS technology and solutions to ISOs. Now TPG will market and distribute Ingenico’s complete Telium range of products including iPP220 & iPP320 PIN pads, iCT220 & iCT250 countertop terminals, and iWL220 & iWL250BL (bluetooth) wireless devices. In addition, TPG will house a swap pool of the Telium devices in an effort to provide the most comprehensive customer service and a timely response to customer service requests. As part of their repair and services, TPG will perform key injections and downloads.
The Merchant Advisory Group (MAG), a cross-industry association of large merchants involved in the payments industry, announced its recommendations for a U.S. electronic payments roadmap with a focal point on the importance of Chip and PIN adoption. With its members accounting for the majority of payment card transactions in the United States, the MAG has consistently advocated a collaborative approach to developing a long-term, mutually beneficial payments strategy. The MAG has facilitated numerous discussions with a cross-section of all payments stakeholders with the goal of laying the foundation of a comprehensive and inclusive payments roadmap. Element Payment Services payment processing has made available its “ID TECH SecureKey M Series,” featuring Element “TransForm” point-to-point encryption (P2PE), a family of keyboard-emulated (driverless), point-of entry devices that encrypt both key-entered and MagStripe card data. Element “TransForm P2PE,” SecureKey devices protect cardholder data immediately upon entry, simplifying PCI compliance for merchants and software providers. Element and ID TECH have a long track record of providing secure hardware devices, paired with leading technology, to the marketplace. Recognizing a gap in the marketplace for a device to encrypt manually keyed transactions, which has long complicated PCI compliance and increased security costs, ID TECH and Element conceptualized and developed the SecureKey M series.

National Commercial Bank (NCB) has launched its “Visa Platinum Credit
Card” Sharia-compliant premium credit card. Available in a Bonus (Cash
Back) and Amyali (air miles) scheme, the “Visa Platinum Credit Card”
allows cardholders to choose which scheme best works for them. The new
Visa also offers travel insurance benefits of up to USD 200,000; access
to Visa “Global Assistance Services”; and the benefits of Visa
acceptance at over 30 million outlets in 170 countries around the world.
National Commercial Bank (NCB) first commenced operation in December
1953 with paid-up capital of SAR 30 million and now operates 1393
ATMs and 12,806 POS terminals.
Merchant Solutions and China UnionPay (CUP) have partnered to allow
thousands of merchants outside China to accept CUP payment cards. This
initiative is in response to research demonstrating more than 40 million
Chinese traveled abroad in 2007, 46 million are predicted to have in
2008 and it is estimated over 50 million will in 2009. To facilitate
these travelers, Merchant Solutions plans to equip its business
merchants with POS terminals and equipment for card payment acceptance
through the CUP bankcard association and its member banks. The member
banks have issued more than 1.8 billion cards across China.
E-banking provider PSI has signed a LOI with The Egan Group for MVMC to provide
strategic services including vault cash and armored car service, 24/7 help desk
and installation services. MVMC Corp is a large security and money management company servicing
over 8000 ATM locations for banks, credit unions, and ISO retail ATM
providers located throughout the tri-state and surrounding areas within
the Northeast Region and is complemented by a traditional armored
service provider, Armored Money Services.
