Equens + Worldline

Worldline and Equens are getting married. Equens is a prominent European payment services provider, headquartered in Utrecht, Netherlands, with €305 million 2015 revenue. Equens Worldline Company will become the largest pan-European financial processor, targeting 2016 revenue of € 700 million and OMDA of € 120 million, managing approximatively 100 million payment cards and employing 3,000 experts in payment.

Czech & UnionPay

Chinese tourists are flocking to the Czech Republic and the transaction volume of UnionPay cards in the Czech Republic has achieved a year-on-year growth of over 100% in the first three quarters of this year. Over 90% of duty-free shops at Prague Airport, the biggest international airport in the Czech Republic, accept UnionPay cards.

Checkout Portal

Wirecard’s Checkout Portal has been launched in Eastern Europe and will be offering payment solutions in combination with Google services. In a first step, the product was launched in Poland, for which Wirecard was able to involve Google’s Premier SMB Partner Verseo.

Omnishopper 2015

Eight out of 10 global shoppers’ purchase decisions are now informed by a digital device, with consumers saying they are smarter shoppers and getting more value than before. However, though in-store sales still account for more than 90% of all retail spending, the result is a more focused in-store shopper buying from a narrower list of unique stores than in years past.

MasterPass USA

Later this summer, Burger King will expand its use of MasterPass to its app which offers exclusive deals and allows users to locate the nearest restaurant, explore the menu, and pay directly with their phone. Starting this fall, Firehouse Subs will begin accepting MasterPass too.


Oberthur Technologies (OT) is opening of a new R&D center dedicated to security technologies for Smartphones and Mobile devices based in South Korea. This center will help handset makers deploy secure high-speed mobile services to accompany fast changing mobile users’ behaviors.
