A new consumer survey has found 90% credit cardholders who asked their credit card issuers to waive a late payment fee were successful. Furthermore, about 66% of cardholders who asked for a lower interest rate were approved.
First Data Chairman announced Heidi G. Miller has joined its Board of Directors. Miller was president of JPMorgan International, a division of JPMorgan Chase & Co. Before that she served as CEO of JPMorgan Chase’s Treasury and Security Services, leading 35,000 people in 50 countries. Miller also served as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Bank One Corporation. She has held other CFO positions including at the Travelers Group and later at Citigroup. She graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in history and completed her doctorate in history at Yale University in 1979.
Bob Carr, Heartland Payment Systems CEO, has been named the 2013 Innovator of the Year by the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce. Carr will be formally recognized at the Annual Business Leader Awards presentation and gala at the Tournament Players Club Jasna Polana on December 4, 2013. Carr was the driving force in helping Princeton merchants launch the OnePrinceton program last month. OnePrinceton is a secure payments system that allows merchants to easily donate one percent of each OnePrinceton purchase to the buyer’s participating nonprofit organization in the Princeton area when shopping at merchants that participate in the program. Consumers can participate in the OnePrinceton program by directly linking their checking or savings account through either a OnePrinceton card or a smartphone QR code, both of which require PINs for added security.

Citi announced that Michael E. O’Neill was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Citi following its annual meeting of stockholders. O’Neill is the retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of Hawaii and was previously Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer at Bank of America from 1995-1999. Mr. O’Neill earned an MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia and a B.A. in European Civilization from Princeton University.
