FIS to Deploy Over 5,500 ATMs in Fledgling Market

FIS announced new agreements to deploy and manage more than 5,500 ATMs in India as part of a pan-India ATM rollout by a consortium of public-sector banks over the next two years. FIS will provide end-to-end outsourcing services including supply, setup and ongoing ATM operation. Currently driving more than 3,500 ATMs across India and operating two of India’s four interbank ATM switching networks, the new deployment will significantly expand FIS’ business in the country, which is a key market in FIS’ international growth strategy.

Gemalto Allows Easycard to Deploy Micropayments

Gemalto deployed its next generation multi-application advanced smart cards technology to EasyCard Corporation allowing micropayments on the widely used transport card enjoyed by over 30 million cardholders that ride the metro in the Greater Taipei Area. The new Gemalto Celego card supports both contact and contactless functionalities, allows users to securely check their personal transaction records from the Internet, to make e-payment for government services and to conduct Internet shopping. Gemalto made available its full set of consulting services on specifications, provided operating system development and certification, and advised EasyCard Corporation on the migration path and opportunities to this new high end multi-application product. The Gemalto Celego card has obtained the Common Criteria EAL4+ top level bank security standard certification. This enables EasyCard to meet the Taiwan Financial Supervisory Commission stringent requirements.

Chase, will.i.am Team to Improve Neighborhoods

Chase and will.i.am announced their collaboration to focus on transforming the East Los Angeles neighborhood of Boyle Heights. The partnership will focus on providing multiple social services that address Boyle Heights’ particular needs including education, jobs and job training, health, home ownership and green space. With this, the “TRANS4M” Boyle Heights collaboration is being built upon a $1 million grant from Chase to the i.am angel foundation, a charity established by will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas. In addition, Chase will commit, directly and through the JPMorgan Chase Foundation, at least $7 million over the next three years to their other non-profit partners to help TRANS4M Boyle Heights. College Track national college access program will open a new center in Boyle Heights beginning to offer under resourced students the tools and opportunities to attend college; The California Endowment will offer affordable, quality health care for underserved individuals and communities; and FIRST will motivate students through after school activities and an international robotics competition to learn about science, technology, engineering and math.

Royal Caribbean Cruises to Implement Agilysys POS

Designed for multi-unit operations common in hospitality environments, the system can manage any combination of dining, bar, cabin service and gift shop operations. Features include real-time reporting capabilities, packages and prix fixe menus, signature capture, multi-language capability and advanced sorting, filtering and grouping options.

DIRECT DEBIT HSM

Direct Debit payments-management software has introduced its “Hardware Security Module (HSM),” which forms part of the PayCentre multi-payment processing platform to automate and streamline the lifecycle of card and payments processes. The HSM module of PayCentre enables Direct Debit Limited customers to submit payment files to Bacs automatically. This alleviates risks involved in payments submission processes including human error and fraud for a more secure alternative to smart cards. Direct Debit Limited has designed PayCentre for organisations with high volumes of submissions.

SCM Microsystems closed its merger with Hirsch Electronics, a physical access solution provider and re-seller of
SCM’s physical access readers. The transaction, which included the
payment of cash and the issuance of SCM common stock and warrants to
purchase shares of SCM common stock in exchange for the securities of
Hirsch. Acquiring Hirsch nearly doubles the size of SCM, a
leading global provider of readers that enable people to access PCs and
networks with smart cards containing authentication data and other
information. This is known in the industry as “logical access.” Hirsch
was a pioneer of the access control market and is now a top player in
what is known as “physical access” Ã¢ÂÂ secure entry to buildings,
campuses, military installations and other facilities. The merger also provides SCM with additional scale and resources to
develop, sell and support new products, systems and services to address
the growing global appetite for secure authentication solutions to
enable e-commerce, e-government and e-business. In particular, SCM is
focused on another global market opportunity: authentication via
“contactless” smart cards and tokens.

AGILYSYS & PLANET PAYMENT

integration of payment systems designed for merchants in the retail and
service industries. Agilysys property management systems, such as “The
Lodging Management System”(LMS), automate many operations for this
type of management, including reservations, card processing and
accounting. Planet Payment’s expanding operations for integrated
payment solutions to the Asia Pacific region served as an opportunity for
the fruition of this partnership. Planet Payment’s intention with its
expansion
to this region is to provide point-of-sale technology providers with
card transaction switching to simplify the delivery of integrated support.
With the organization’s Agilysys partnership, this allows card transactions
received from various terminals routing to a single system using “LMS”.

FNB Deploys 500 Off-Premise Diebold ATMs

South Africa’s First National Bank will utilize the Diebold’s
off-premises ATMs as part of its strategy to expand its reach across South Africa. The purchase of Diebold’s “Opteva” ATMs will enable FNB to offer self-service banking in areas where it has lacked presence, primarily due to the high costs involved in operating stand-alone banking outlets. Maintenance services will be delivered to FNB through Diebold’s partnership with local supplier “Banking Machine Services.”

BNL Converts Entire ATM Network to Agilis Power

Banca Nazionale del Lavoro is deploying a custom application created by Diebold’s “Agilis Power” software toolkit as the standard for its more than 1,300 multivendor ATMs. The project covers the
bank’s entire network and is currently being rolled out. More than 500
of the bank’s ATMs are already operating with Diebold’s “Agilis Power.”
Diebold redesigned the bank’s self-service distribution
architecture with the help of its cross-vendor software platform. The platform enables the ATMs, which are supplied by three different vendors, to provide Web-based advanced functionalities in an integrated multichannel environment.

Agilysys Integrates FDC’s GlobalChoice DCC

Bank of Punjab Hires Diebold ATM Management

Bank of Punjab has selected Mumbai-based Diebold Systems Pvt.
Ltd. to supply a variety of professional and managed services for its multi-brand network of 180 ATMs. Under the agreement, Diebold will provide electronic journal uploading and content management services on ATMs from multiple vendors for the Bank of Punjab’s ATM network. The electronic journal uploading service transmits data to a central location and facilitates online analysis that simplifies reconciliation and settlement, while ensuring accuracy and security. Diebold’s contract with the Bank of Punjab also includes automated call escalation, which ensures ATM availability is consistently monitored with an automated system. Aside from providing hardware maintenance, Diebold will also
offer ATM monitoring that acts as an intermediary between the network
service provider and the bank to increase ATM availability.
