Fime testing services for smart devices and secure chip-based applications has certified Qatar National Bank’s (QNBs) contactless mobile payments solution for its compliance to MasterCard PayPass Specifications.The pilot project is Qatar’s first NFC payments initiative, offering QNB customers and merchants a convenient and quick way to make and accept payments through the use of NFC-enabled handsets and POS contactless terminals. The mobile payments project is part of a phased implementation plan where QNB will work closely with project participants to deploy contactless POS terminals in Qatar’s leading NFC cities.
TSYS announced that Qatar National Bank (QNB) has signed a licensing agreement for its “PRIME 4” card and merchant management solution. QNB has deployed PRIME to manage the issuance of its expanding cards portfolio because of its market-leading flexibility, ease of use and speed-to-market capabilities, to help QNB exceed its growth targets. QNB will leverage the “PRIME 4” upgrade for multiple countries, multiple languages and multiple currencies on a multi-institutional platform to achieve its cross-border expansion policy. It offers a cost-effective single platform licensing solution for issuing and acquiring with built-in, rule-based technology to monitor and detect suspicious transactions in real time.
QNB “Use & Win” campaign awarded 20 Lucky winners, whom will have payments made to Kahramaa and Qtel for the month. All QNB and Non QNB customers who used QNB ATMs to make Kahramaa and Qtel Bill payments were eligible for the promotion.The lucky draw was open to everyone in the country and included both QNB customers and customers using the ATM cards of other banks to complete their transactions. The winners included both QNB and non-QNB customers. This promotion is part of a five-month campaign, which started on 02 May 2011 and ends on 30 September 2011, during which QNB will offer anyone paying their Kahramaa and Qtel monthly bills or purchasing Qtel’s prepaid services through the Bank’s ATM network, the chance to win a grand prize Jeep Grand Cherokee.
QNB is offering a total of 2 Million Qmiles to 10 lucky customers who pay their Kahramaa bills through any QNB ATM, whether they bank with QNB or not. The promotion is open to anyone in Qatar using a debit or credit card issued by any bank to complete Kaharmaa bill payments during the months of July and August. QNB positions itself uniquely for Kaharamma bill payments via its eazylife channels such as eazyinternet, eazymobile and its ATMs where anyone can pay their Kahramma bills. This offer is part of the Bank’s ongoing ‘Use and Win’ campaign which started by encouraging Qtel customers to conduct their Bill Payments and Hala Top Ups at any QNB ATM. The campaign was launched in May and runs until end of September. During July and August, the winners will receive 200,000 Qmiles each for their Kahramaa bill payments at a QNB ATM. The grand draw for the overall campaign will award a Grand Jeep Cherokee to one lucky customer in October.
Qatar National Bank has announced the completion of its
card portfolio migration to TSYS’ merchant management service,
“PRIME 3”. With the introduction of “PRIME 3”, TSYS helped
the bank convert data from 81,000 card accounts, 32,000
customers and 2,300 merchants. The open architecture of
“PRIME 3” streamlines integration with existing bank and third
party interfaces, and offers multi-institution, workflow and
case-management features. The solution supports EMV
chip-card programs, web-services, and offers support from
TSYS Card Tech’s office in Dubai, and the company’s
24-hour support service facility.
As a part of the company’s effort’s to enhance its credit card
offerings, Qatar National Bank has introduced “Value Added Services” for their premier cardholders. These new services include personal accident travel insurance and credit card purchase protection cover and are automatically applied, free of charge. The travel insurance covers up to USD $1 million for the primary card holder and for spouse and children at no additional cost, while the purchase protection
insures against theft, loss or damage for up to 90 days after purchase.
Qatar National Bank has licensed ACI Worldwide’s “Smart Chip
Manager.” The software will enable Qatar’s largest bank to introduce new smart cards and comply with forthcoming EMV international standards in advance of the January 2006 compliance deadline for the Middle East and Africa. An ACI customer for over six years, QNB currently employs ACI’s flagship BASE24 payments software to handle over 70 million ATM and POS transactions each year. The software will help QNB issue, manage and handle the data preparation for smart cards as the migration continues from magnetic stripe to chip-based cards that enable single and multiple applications to be hosted on one card. It will also provide QNB with the ability to fully manage the lifecycle of each EMV smart card, from issuance to application parameter setting and adjustment.
