PayPal is planning to open a brick and mortar store in New York Nov. 1 to promote its new mobile payment technologies. PayPal over the next 3.5 months will be looking to lure retailers to the location in order to demo its new POS products. A QR code will also be integrated into the set-up so that passer-byers on the go can learn about PayPal’s new offerings. PayPal will also be highlighting its offering for merchants that incorporate PayPal into both the checkout and mobile payment processes.

uniBank has become the first customer to golive with Temenos’ “ARC Mobile.” The multi-mobile channel solution was launched in May last year to help Temenos customers take advantage of the rapidly-growing market for mobile banking services; a market that is expected to reach USD 25bn by 20142. TX-based Retalix has formed an alliance with Postilion to deliver an integrated commercial fueling solution for travel centers and an open-systems payment switch for credit and debit transactions for convenience stores. The solution combines Retalix “StorePoint” featuring its new Retalix “Commercial Fueling” module with Postilion “Realtime”, a payment switching engine that controls the payment, transaction authorization and settlement process. Postilion is a subsidiary of S1 Corporation and a provider of open-systems electronic payment processing solutions. Retalix is an independent provider of enterprise-wide software solutions to retailers and distributors.
ATEbank of Greece has signed an agreement to use the full S1 “Postilion” suite to replace the bank’s existing ATM-driving platform and enable it to expand its service offering. In the first phase of the project, “Postilion Realtime” will be used to drive the bank’s existing and new ATMs. ABG intends to migrate its current network of 600 ATMs and the 15 ATMs it drives on behalf of another Greek bank to “Postilion” in mid-2006. “Postilion Realtime” will enable the bank to fulfill
its EMV compliance commitments. “Postilion PostCard” will manage ABG’s
1 million debit cards. “Postilion Office” will allow the bank to perform
continuous back-office processing without impacting the online system.

Postilion eSocket POS is a Microsoft Windows environment that is used for stand-in authorization capability as well as to provide the POS terminal interface without the need to modify existing POS software, providing Wakefern with a highly scalable and open architecture that permits easy implementation of new products to be delivered at the POS. Wakefern Food Corporation is the merchandising and distribution arm of ShopRite supermarkets and the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the United States, generating over $9 billion in retail sales. S1 Corporation (incorporating Mosaic Software) provides software solutions for financial services.
Scotia Bank reported that its personal loans and credit card portfolio grew 12.5% between November 1, 2003 and October 31, 2003. For the third calendar quarter, the issuer had $26.3 billion in personal and card loans compared to $23.4 billion one year ago. Scotiabank also reported its ABM network increased by 20% during the quarter to more than 2,700 machines. The increase is due to deal with Shell Canada. Scotiabank-branded ABMs will be installed in up to 500 Shell retail gasoline convenience stores across Canada. Scotia OnLine’s activated customer base grew to 1.1 million customers, up 29% year over year, and transaction volumes have grown at an even faster rate. Overall, Scotiabank produced net income of $660 million for the quarter, up 13.2% from last year.
