TNB Card Services has acquired the card processing of VA-based Salem Credit Union. Salem VA chose TNB for its
management capabilities and tools, marketing programs, member-friendly
service, and expertise at growing credit union credit card portfolios. With
outstanding balances of $3.4 million, the credit union recognized that
its Classic card and single rate offering limited the number of members
it could serve. Salem VA will engage TNBâs portfolio consulting team to assess the

Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley is promoting the city’s 4th Chicago
Alternative Policing Strategy (CAPS) “Gun Turn In Program” event, urging
citizens to exchange their guns, no questions asked, for a $100 prepaid
MasterCard. In addition, citizens can also exchange a BB, replica or air
gun in exchange for a $10 prepaid MasterCard. Since 2006, CAPS and the
Chicago Police have collected over 11,000 illegal guns through the
exchange program, 6,700 of which were collected last summer alone. The
event is to take place Saturday, July 26, at 25 locations across the
city from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Citibank has rolled-out two “Black Visa” cards for its entrepreneurial and lifestyle-driven customers in Bahrain. The new
“Citibank Ultimate Visa” earns “CitiDollars” while the co-branded “Emirates-Citibank Ultimate Visa” earns “Skywards” benefits. In February Ahli United Bank and and Bahrain National Insurance Company partnered to issue a Visa credit card offering discounts in insurance premiums plus a rewards program. Last year American Express unveiled its enhanced “Blue” credit card and Al Salem Bank launched the first EMV-compliant chip-based smart ATM card in Bahrain. Credit card usage is growing about 18% per year in Bahrain.
WA-based Pemco Technologies has announced it will provide credit and debit processing services for the Utah-based Goldenwest Credit Union and will provide credit processing services for Oregon Employees Federal Credit Union (OEFCU). Goldenwest was established in 1936 and OEFCU was founded in 1964, both intent on providing members with financial services such as bank accounts, retirement accounts, consumer loans, real estate loans, credit cards, debit cards and online financial services. Pemco Technologies provides such payment solutions for banks as card processing, PIN-based processing and ATM services. The Goldenwest Credit Union has assets of over $600 million and nearly 69,000 members while the Oregon-based OEFCU has assets of $84.5 million and more than 9,500 members.
