Christopher Augustin, a financial services technology innovator whose experience spans nearly three decades at some of the world’s top firms, has joined First Data, the global leader in payment technology and services solutions, as chief information officer (CIO). In his new role, Augustin will lead the company’s software development work, engineering processes and software and application development strategy across the company.

On Track Innovations contactless microprocessor-based smart card solutions for payments has elected Mr. David P. Stone and Mr. Mark Green as members of its board of directors. With this, the board is comprised of nine members. Stone retired as a senior partner in the New York-based international law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP (“WGM”) at the end of 2005. For approximately 35 years prior to his retirement, Mr. Stone was engaged in the practice of law, specializing in corporate, securities and mergers and acquisitions law. At WGM, he founded and led the firm’s Israel Practice Group which, during his tenure, represented the issuers, underwriters or selling shareholders in connection with more than 90 public offerings of equity or debt securities by Israeli companies in the United States. Green is head of Technology and International Banking at Merriman Curhan Ford, a New York-based investment bank. Mr. Green previously headed C.E. Unterberg, Towbin’s (and later Collins Stewart’s) banking efforts in Israel, where he advised technology companies on cross-border public and private financings and mergers & acquisitions.
Global growth equity firm General Atlantic has appointed Hans Morris, former president of Visa, as a Special Advisor. Morris will provide strategic counsel to GA and its portfolio companies with a focus on the financial services sector, supporting the firm’s global growth equity investment program. Morris served as president of Visa Inc. from 2007-2009, having been recruited to Visa as it completed a reorganization which merged several separate businesses into a new company. In March of 2008, Visa completed an offering of 51% of the company for $19.7 billion, the largest IPO in U.S. history. Mr. Morris’ primary responsibilities included managing Visa’s regions and overseeing all sales and marketing. Morris previously spent 27 years at Citigroup and its predecessor companies in several operating and management roles. In his final position, he was CFO and head of finance, technology and operations for Citi Markets and Banking. From 2000 until 2002, he was vice Chairman, chief operating officer, and head of client management of the Investment Banking division at Salomon Smith Barney, and for many years he was the head of the financial institutions group within the investment bank.
Bank of America has tapped Robert Scully, previously with Morgan Stanley, to serve as on the Board of Directors.
Scully, 59, served as a member of the office of the chairman of Morgan
Stanley focusing on the firm’s key clients.
While co-president at Morgan Stanley, Scully was responsible for asset
management, the Discover card business and merchant banking activities.
Prior to that, he served as chairman of global capital markets and was
vice chairman of investment banking where he was responsible for talent
development, senior client relationships and strategic initiatives.
Before joining Morgan Stanley in 1996, Scully served as a managing
director at Lehman Brothers and at Salomon Brothers.
He received a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University in 1972 and an
MBA from Harvard Business School in 1977.

Citi has appointed new regional leaders effective immediately, which
include Shengman Zhang as Chairman of Asia Pacific; Stephen Bird and
Shirish Apte as CEOs of Asia Pacific; and Bill Mills and Alberto Verme
as CEOs of EMEA. In his new role, Shengman Zhang will oversee expanding
relationships with clients, regulators, government officials and
employees across the region while Stephen Bird will manage performance,
strategy and execution operations in Northern Asia and Shirish Apte in
Southern Asia. Meanwhile, Mills will continue oversight in Western
Europe and Africa, Mr. Verme to manage business operations in
Central/Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Citi serves approximately
200 million customer accounts and does business in more than 140 countries.

Citigroup has successfully completed the acquisition of
a 20% stake in Akbank. Under the terms of the agreement Citigroup paid
$3.1 billion for the share. Citigroup’s nominee, Sir Winfried Bischoff,
has been appointed to Akbank’s Board of Directors. Bischoff is the
Chairman of Citigroup Europe and a Member of the Citigroup Management
and Operating Committees. Mr. Ege ÃÂÃÂaglar, Sabanci Holding’s nominee,
has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Citigroup’s Turkish
banking subsidiary, Citibank A.S. Akbank currently has 675 branches and
1,617 ATMs and has assets of $39.6 billion, loans of $19.6 billion and a
deposit base of $25.0 billion.
