Bitcoin payment processor Snapcard Inc. announced its partnership with São Paulo-based payment gateway AZPay, allowing hundreds of merchants worldwide to accept bitcoin payments and receive instant settlements in the digital currency. Merchants using AZPay’s payment gateway platform can now accept bitcoin with a simple click of a button.
NCR’s Aloha Table service point-of-sale (POS) software has landed another world famous restaurant chain. Jamie’s Italian has opted to use POS system in its first site in São Paulo. The global chain is also using NCR Pulse Real Time to manage its newest facility.

Bradesco (BBDO) will begin piloting new technology from NCR Corporation to give customers immediate account credit for cash deposits made at the ATM. The global leader in consumer transaction technologies, will eliminate the use of envelopes for cash deposits, making Bradesco one of the first financial institutions in Brazil to incorporate intelligent deposit into its ATM channel. Both account holders and non-account holders of the bank will benefit from this new technology. Account holders will have the deposit amount instantly credited into their accounts, even on weekends. Non-account holders no longer need to go to a teller to deposit cash. Bradesco and NCR also are working to extend real-time deposits to checks, as well. This new model will help to reduce the waste of envelopes used in ATM deposits, give customers dramatically improved access to their funds, and decrease costs.
NCR announced that Fogo de Chão successfully implemented NCR Aloha POS software at its 32 restaurants around the world. Already using the NCR Aloha in its 23 U.S. locations, Fogo de Chão selected NCR because of the sales and administrative functions it offers the international restaurant chain. Fogo de Chão is also using NCR Insight and NCR Configuration Center’s above-store capabilities, allowing the chain to improve operational efficiency at the store-level in their Brazilian locations. The NCR Insight software is expected to help the chain forecast revenues, increase controls, lower operational costs and reduce time spent on lower-value administrative tasks.
Consumers in Brazil have more options when they send and receive money transfers thanks to an agreement with MoneyGram and São Paulo, Brazil-based Confidence Câmbio. Customers can now use MoneyGram services at 69 Confidence Câmbio stores across the country. Confidence Câmbio is a well-known company with a presence in many of the largest cities in Brazil. It is part of Confidence Group which also owns the first foreign exchange bank in this country. Group Confidence is part of Travelex – the largest foreign exchange group in the world.
Gross dollar volume (GDV) for Visa and MasterCard, among the Latin American Caribbean countries (LAC), rose a mere 6.1% last year, better than the 5.8% growth rate in 2012, but significantly lower than the 24% gains in 2010 and 2011. Visa holds a 76% share of the LAC GDV market and grew 4.4% in 2013 to hit $1,078 billion. MasterCard was up 12.2% last year, rising to $340 billion. Over the past five years Visa’s LAC GDV jumped 69.4% and MasterCard soared by 90%.
In terms of growth, MasterCard’s Europe, Latin America and Canada regions all under performed the fast growing Asia-Pacific-Middle East-Africa region in 2013. Last year the European region produced annual growth of 16.6% with third quarter gross dollar volume of $322 billion.
