Mozido + CorFire
Mozido has finalized the acquisition of digital commerce company, CorFire, with Mozido owning 80% of the company. Through this acquisition, Mozido increased its capabilities by incorporating CorFire’s technology platform and blue chip customer base including many of the largest mobile network operators (MNOs) around the world collectively serving more than 1.5B subscribers.

Austin-based Mozido is plowing big bucks into HCE (host card emulation) technology via a strategic investment in SimplyTapp.
Mozido will leverage SimplyTapp’s open card issuance platform to allow merchants to support NFC for more efficient and secure transactions within the merchants’ branded mobile application environment.

Austin-based SimplyTapp has raised an additional $2.5M of their Series B financing round from Mozido, elevating the total amount of funding raised to $10.1M. The new infusion of capital will allow SimplyTapp to ramp up R&D by expanding its core engineering team and bolster channel support for global partners.
SimplyTapp Announces Newest Board Member
SimplyTapp Host Card Emulation (HCE) solutions for mobile payments announced Mohammad Khan has been named to its Board of Directors. Mohammad Khan co-founded ViVOtech in 2001, the early leader in contactless and Near Field Communication (NFC) mobile payments. As its President and Board Member, Khan paved the road for mobile payments by shipping more than one million NFC POS terminals to a wide variety of brand name merchants around the world. Khan and the team also ran multiple successful field trials globally for mobile payments, offers, and loyalty programs confirming to the industry that consumers liked using their mobile devices to shop, save and pay at physical stores. Prior to ViVotech, Khan worked at VeriFone for 15 years joining in its infancy days, and contributed in making magnetic stripe and smart cards to be the leading payment medias for the industry globally.
ABnote Partners SimplyTapp on Host Card Emulation
ABnote, a leading global card manufacturer and provider of NFC and Trusted Service Manager (TSM) based solutions, announced it will integrate its existing TSM service with SimplyTapp’s Host Card Emulation (HCE) platform, creating the payment industry’s broadest offering of secure, cloud-based NFC solutions. The combined service will be hosted securely within ABnote’s certified global network of data centers, and will support both standard Secure Element (SE) cloud implementations and token based solutions. This service represents the first of its kind, allowing traditional retailers and financial institutions to compete through innovation with companies such as PayPal and Stripe. The combined HCE offering will be launched on April 1, 2014. The solution represents a two for one solution for financial institutions and retailers’ closed loop, decoupled debit, and open loop p payments. This will allow them to move into a more secure model than magnetic stripe, and at the same time satisfy mobile payment initiatives; all while leveraging existing infrastructure.
